Your map rotation
Upload custom .pms maps over SFTP and list them in mapslist.txt to build the rotation your regulars want.

203.0.113.24in the address fields. - 4

Common problems
Not showing in the lobby list yet? Players can always join directly with the IP and port, which skips the list entirely.
Keep the join password and the admin password different. Anyone with the admin one can kick, ban and change the map.
Soldat plays best around 10 to 16 players on most stock maps. Raise Max Players for big CTF maps only.
Players type the IP and port separately. Split 203.0.113.24 at the colon when you share it.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modding your Soldat server
The Soldat community has made thousands of custom maps since the early 2000s, plus server side scripts that add modes and stats. Maps go in the server's maps folder and into the rotation list.
Soldat server hosting, explained
Soldat is a side-view 2D shooter where soldiers jet around small arenas with a military arsenal, and it plays far faster than it looks. Rocket boots, a dozen weapons and maps that fit on one screen make every round loud and short. It has been around since 2002, it is free on Steam, and a loyal crowd still plays it every night. A good server becomes the place regulars return to.
It ships with seven game modes: deathmatch, point match, team match, capture the flag, rambo match, infiltration and hold the flag. CTF is the competitive heart, and plenty of clans still run practice servers for it. A dedicated server keeps your map rotation, mode and rules in place, and it is up whether or not you are. Clans use theirs for practice and pickup games, and public servers build a crowd of regulars who know the maps by heart.
Our panel covers the server name, a join password for private matches, an admin password for remote administration and max players. Map lists, respawn times, friendly fire and the rest live in the server's config files, which you edit in the file manager or over SFTP. Custom maps go in the maps folder. Changes load on the next restart, which takes seconds on a server this small.
Soldat is tiny by modern standards. 1 GB is plenty for a small match, and 2 GB covers a full public server. Only go to 4 GB if you run heavy scripts and a big pile of maps. What makes a Soldat server feel good is low latency, not memory, so spend the difference on keeping it up all month with a split bill.

Common questions
How many players can a Soldat server hold?
Our setup defaults to 10 and accepts up to 20 in the panel. Most stock maps feel best around 10 to 16.
Is Soldat free?
Yes. Soldat is free to play on Steam, so nobody in your group has to buy anything to join.
Which game modes can I run?
Deathmatch, point match, team match, capture the flag, rambo match, infiltration and hold the flag. Set the mode in the server config.
How do I add custom maps?
Upload the .pms map files to the maps folder over SFTP or the file manager, then add their names to the map list and restart.
How do I run a private match?
Set a Server Password in the panel and share it with your group. Anyone without it can't get in.
What is the admin password for?
It gives remote admin access, so you can kick players and change maps without the panel. We generate a strong one for you.
What about OpenSoldat?
OpenSoldat is the open source 1.8 branch, a separate version from the Steam release. Players must run the same version as the server, and ours runs the Steam release most people have.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Soldat?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Soldat server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
