To use admin commands on a Soldat server, set Admin_Password in soldat.ini, join the server and type /adminlog followed by that password in chat. From then on, commands like /kick, /ban, /map, /nextmap, /restart, /gamemode and /addbot work for you. Players can be targeted by name or by their player number, and /loadcon reloads soldat.ini without a restart.
Logging in
- Make sure
Admin_Passwordis set in the[NETWORK]section ofsoldat.iniand the server has been restarted. - Join the server.
- Open chat and type:
/adminlog your-admin-password
You stay logged in for that session. Keep the admin password different from the join password: anyone with it can kick, ban and change the map.
You can also add a trusted player's IP to the remote admin list with /admip, or add someone who is on the server with /adm, so they do not need the password.

Player management
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/kick <name or number> |
Removes a player; they can come back |
/kicklast |
Kicks whoever joined most recently |
/ban <name or number> |
Bans a player |
/banlast |
Bans the most recent joiner for one hour |
/banip <ip> |
Bans an IP address |
/unban <ip> |
Lifts an IP ban |
/unbanlast |
Undoes the last ban |
/kill <name or number> |
Kills a player on the spot |
/setteam1 to /setteam4 <number> |
Moves a player to a team (1 Alpha, 2 Bravo, 3 Charlie, 4 Delta) |
Player numbers are shorter to type and avoid problems with names that use odd characters. /kicklast and /banlast are made for the classic case of someone joining and immediately causing trouble.
Maps and rounds
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/map <name> |
Changes to a map now, name without .pms |
/nextmap |
Skips to the next map in mapslist.txt |
/restart |
Restarts the current match |
/gamemode <0-6> |
Switches mode: 0 DM, 1 PM, 2 TM, 3 CTF, 4 RM, 5 INF, 6 HTF |
/limit <number> |
Changes the score limit for the current mode |
/timelimit <minutes> |
Changes the round time |
/loadlist <file> |
Loads a different map list file |
/loadlist is handy for switching between rotations without editing files: keep mapslist.txt for public play and, say, ctfpractice.txt for clan nights, then load whichever you need.
Gameplay settings on the fly
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/respawntime <seconds> |

Changes made this way last until the server restarts or soldat.ini is reloaded. To make them permanent, edit the matching key in soldat.ini. The soldat.ini settings guide lists them all.
Bots
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/addbot <name> |
Adds a bot |
/addbot1 to /addbot4 <name> |
Adds a bot to a specific team |
Bots are useful on a quiet public server: two or three keep the map busy until real players join. Kick them with /kick when the server fills up.
Server management
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/say <text> |
Sends a message to everyone |
/loadcon |
Reloads soldat.ini |
/loadwep <file> |
Reloads weapon settings |
/lobby |
Registers the server with the lobby again |
/adm <name> |
Adds a player to the remote admin list |
/admip <ip> |
Adds an IP to the remote admin list |
/unadm <ip> |
Removes an IP from the remote admin list |
/lobby is worth knowing: if your server dropped out of the lobby list, re-registering often brings it back without a restart.
Remote admin tools
Soldat supports remote administration over TCP on the server port, using the admin password. Community tools connect this way so you can watch chat and run commands without being in the game. On a hosted server, the live console gives you much the same view.
Running a calm public server
- Post the rules in
Greeting_Messageso they show on join. - Warn with
/saybefore you kick. - Use temporary measures (
/kick,/banlast) before permanent IP bans, since many players share addresses. - Give a second regular admin rights with
/admso someone is around in your time off.

On a hosted server
On a GamezServers Soldat server, the Admin Password field in the control panel is written to soldat.ini on every start, so set it there and log in with /adminlog. The live console in the panel shows chat and joins as they happen, and soldat.ini and the map lists are in the file manager. To set up from scratch, see how to host a Soldat server.
