A Rust server for you and your friends
Your own wipe, your own map, nobody else's rules.
Rust has no co-op mode, so even a group of three needs a dedicated server to play together. Ours is online minutes after you pay, with its own address and nothing to set up on your PC.

Rust with just your group
The Starter plan is made for small groups
You do not need a 200 slot server to raid your friends. Starter gives you 8 GB of RAM and room for up to 50 players for 19.99 USD a month, which comfortably covers a small map around 3000 in size with a handful of people.
Set Map size to 3000 and pick any Map seed in the panel. A smaller map means you actually run into each other, monuments stay contested and the server stays light on memory as bases grow.
Split it so nobody pays the lot
At checkout choose Split with friends and pick how many people are paying, from 2 to 10. You pay your share and the server starts straight away. Everyone else gets their own payment link and pays by card when they are ready, with a 1 USD fee on each share.
New customers get 50% off the first month, and that covers every friend's share too. Cancel any time, with no contract.
Join in three keystrokes
Everyone launches Rust, presses F1 to open the console and types client.connect followed by your server address. That works from the first minute, even before the server shows up in the Community tab.
To give yourself admin, run ownerid with your SteamID64 in the panel console, then server.writecfg, and reconnect. Use moderatorid for a friend you trust with fewer powers. Kick and ban buttons sit right next to the console if a stranger wanders in.
Vanilla, or vanilla plus later
Start on the Vanilla server type and play Rust as Facepunch made it. If the group later wants quality of life, switch to Oxide in the panel and add Furnace Splitter, Remover Tool and Auto Doors. Your server is backed up before any type switch.
Wipes are yours to decide. The map has to wipe on the first Thursday of the month when Rust updates, and anything between that is up to your group: stop the server, delete the .map and .sav files in server/rust, and start it again for a fresh map.
It sleeps when nobody is on
Sleep when empty stops the server after 90 minutes with nobody online, and anyone with access starts it again from the dashboard in one click. Good for a private group that plays a few evenings a week. A sleeping server does not show in the server browser, so turn it off in Settings if you want it listed around the clock.

What comes set up on a Rust server
Split the bill
Each friend pays their own share from a link, so nobody fronts the whole server.
Small map, your seed
Set Map size and Map seed in the panel. Changing either generates a new map.
No port forwarding
Your server has its own address, and your home IP is never shared with anyone.
Sleeps when empty
Stops after 90 minutes with nobody on, and anyone in the group can start it again.
Admin from the panel
Kick, ban and ownerid buttons next to a live console in your browser.
72 hour refund
A full refund within 72 hours of your first purchase if it is not for you.

Common problems
Not in the server list yet
New servers can take a while to show up in the Community tab. Pasting the connect command into the F1 console always works.
Cannot connect after a Rust update
Rust updates on the first Thursday of every month. The owner restarts the server so it updates too, then everyone can join again.
Server still starting
A fresh map takes a few minutes to generate the first time after a wipe or a new seed. Wait until the dashboard shows it running.
Making someone an admin
The owner types ownerid followed by the player's Steam ID in the dashboard console, then server.writecfg so it survives restarts, and the player reconnects.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Common questions
How many friends can join the Starter plan?
Up to 50 players, far more than most friend groups need. The 8 GB of RAM is sized for a small map around 3000 in size.
Can we split the cost?
Yes. Choose Split with friends at checkout and pick 2 to 10 payers. Each friend pays their own share from a link, plus a 1 USD fee per share.
Does my PC need to stay on?
No. The server runs on our hardware, so friends can play whenever they like. Turn off Sleep when empty if you want it online around the clock.
How do my friends connect?
Press F1 in Rust and type client.connect followed by the server address. Once the server is listed, they can also find it in the Community tab and add it to Favorites.
Can we add plugins later?
Yes. Switch the server type to Oxide or Carbon in the panel and upload plugins. The server is backed up first, and it moves to the Modded tab of the browser.
Do we have to wipe?
The map wipes when Rust updates on the first Thursday of each month, because old maps do not load on the new version. Extra map wipes and blueprint wipes are up to you.
How much RAM does Rust need?
Standard maps with up to 100 players run well on 12 GB. Go bigger for large maps or heavy plugins.
How do I wipe my server?
Stop the server, open Files, go to server/rust and delete the .map and .sav files for a map wipe. Delete the player.blueprints files too for a blueprint wipe. Start the server and a fresh map generates.
Do I have to wipe every month?
The map has to wipe when Facepunch releases the monthly update on the first Thursday of the month, because old maps do not load on the new version. Restart after the update and the new map generates by itself. Blueprint wipes are up to you.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
