How to join your World of PADMAN server

Download World of PADMAN 1.7 for free from worldofpadman.net and install it.

If the server uses custom maps, let the game download them when it asks.
Common problems
WoP 1.7.0 cannot see or join older servers, and older clients cannot join 1.7 servers. Everyone needs the current 1.7 release.
A player missing a custom map gets stuck or kicked on join. Turn on Allow Downloads in the panel, or send them the same .pk3 files.
Server not in the list? Check Server Visibility is set to internet, not LAN, and give the master server a minute or two after start.
Changing the game mode or map rotation means editing the config file named in Config File Name, then restarting the server.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Community maps, models and skins for World of PADMAN are shared on mod.io and ModDB, both moderated by the developers. The team also keeps the [PAD]Community MapPack up to date for the current version.
World of PADMAN server hosting, explained
World of PADMAN is a free cartoon arena shooter from the German team Padworld Entertainment. It started in 2004 as a Quake III mod based on the Padman comic strip and later became standalone on ioquake3. You play as oversized toy characters running through giant kitchens, kids' rooms and backyards with water bombs, bubble guns and an injector. Version 1.7.0, the 20 Years Anniversary Edition, came out in December 2024 for Windows, Linux and macOS.
The game's modes are its charm. Spray Your Color has you collect cartridges and tag walls, Big Balloon is about holding balloons across the map, Last Pad Standing is elimination, and 1.7 added Freeze Tag, Catch the KillerDuck and One Lolly Capture next to classic Capture the Lolly. The community is small but alive, with a handful of public servers listed on the official site, so many groups run their own for LAN style nights.
In the panel you set the hostname, internet or LAN visibility, game version, RCON password, the mod folder (fs_game) and which config file loads. That config holds the game type, map rotation, frag and time limits and bot settings, and you edit it in the file manager. Allow Downloads lets players grab custom maps automatically when they connect. You can also run the server as LAN only for a local party.
Like any Quake III engine game, WoP barely uses memory. A match for friends with bots runs on 1 GB. A public server with custom maps is comfortable on 2 GB, and only a mod folder plus big map packs needs 4 GB. CPU matters more than RAM in a fast shooter, and the id Tech 3 server is happy on a small share of it. The extra memory on bigger plans goes to map files, not to players, so most groups never need more than the middle plan.

Common questions
Is World of PADMAN free?
Yes. The game is freeware for Windows, Linux and macOS and the engine code is open source, so friends only need to download it.
How many players can a World of PADMAN server hold?
You set the player limit in the server config. Public servers commonly run between 16 and 25 slots, and bots can fill empty spots.
Which game modes can I run?
Free For All, Tournament, Team Deathmatch, Spray Your Color, Big Balloon, Capture the Lolly, Last Pad Standing and, since 1.7, Freeze Tag, Catch the KillerDuck and One Lolly Capture. You choose the mode in the config file.
How do I add custom maps?
Upload the map .pk3 files into the wop folder with the file manager or SFTP and add them to your rotation. Keep Allow Downloads on so players get the files when they join.
Where do I find WoP maps and mods?
On mod.io and ModDB, which the developers moderate, and in the official [PAD]Community MapPack. Check each file supports version 1.7.
Can old WoP versions join my server?
No. Version 1.7.0 is not backward compatible, so every player needs 1.7 to connect.
How do I control the server while playing?
Set an RCON password in the panel, then use rconpassword and rcon commands in the game console. The panel console works too.
How do I add bots?
Set the bot settings in your config file or use addbot commands over RCON. Bots come in several skill levels and work in every game mode.
Is GamezServers affiliated with World of PADMAN?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated World of PADMAN server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
