Longvinter Admin Panel: How Server Admins Moderate an Island

How admin works on a Longvinter server: the EOS ID admin list, the in game admin panel and its logs, removing houses, resetting vaults, and running fair rules.

Longvinter does not use typed admin commands for most moderation. Server admins are set by EOS account ID in the server config, and once you join as one, an admin panel button appears in game that ordinary players never see. From it you read logs of trades and vendor activity, manage items and compendiums, and reset the global vault, and admins can dismantle any house on the island. Here is how to get access, what the panel is for, and how to run a server that stays fair.

Step 1: Get on the admin list

Admins are listed in the server's Game.ini under AdminSteamID. Despite the name, it takes your EOS account ID, a 32 character string of letters and numbers, not a Steam ID.

  1. Start Longvinter and open Options, then General.
  2. Copy the long account ID shown there.
  3. Stop the server, add the ID after AdminSteamID=, and start it again.
  4. Add more admins on the same line, separated by single spaces.

Edit only while the server is stopped. The server writes its settings back as it saves, so a change made on a running server is quietly undone. The full config walk through is in our Longvinter server setup guide.

Step 2: Open the admin panel

Join your server with the account you added. Since a 2024 update, the admin panel button is hidden for non-admins, so if you can see it, the admin list worked. If you cannot:

  • Check you used the ID from Options > General, not your Steam name or SteamID64.
  • Check there are no extra characters, and that IDs are separated by a single space.
  • Make sure you edited the config of the server you are joining, with the server stopped, then restarted.

What the admin panel is for

The panel has grown with the game's updates. What the patch notes have added over time:

Feature What it helps with
Admin logs Trades, vendor returns, money collected from player vendors and odd store purchases are logged, so you can trace a scam or an exploit
Item set editor Managing sets of items, for events or to compensate players after a bug
Compendium tools Fixing compendium progress when a quest or entry bugs out
Global vault reset Resetting the global vault, for example after a wipe or an exploit

Admins can also dismantle houses they did not place, which is the practical way to clear an abandoned or rule breaking build in a prime spot.

The exact layout of the panel changes between updates, so expect to click around after a patch. Read the official patch notes when something looks different.

Handling common situations

A player reports a scam in a trade. Check the admin logs for the trade and vendor activity between the two players. Logs exist exactly so you can verify claims rather than taking anyone's word.

Someone exploited a bug for money. The logs show unusual store and vendor transactions. Decide whether to remove items, reset a vault, or remove the player. Be consistent: whatever you do, do it to everyone in the same situation.

An abandoned base blocks the best spot. Tent decay handles abandoned tents on its own if it is on. For houses, an admin can dismantle them. Post a rule about inactivity first so nobody is surprised.

A griefer will not stop. Remove them, and lock the server with a password if it keeps happening. A password plus a Discord where you hand it out is the strongest tool a small server has. See how to make a game server private.

Rules that need fewer admin actions

Most moderation on a Longvinter server is avoided by settings, not handled with tools:

Setting Effect
PVP=false No raiding or killing between players, safe zone turrets do not shoot players in PvE
TentDecay=true Abandoned tents disappear, keeping land free for active players
MaxTents Caps how much land one player can claim with tents
ServerTag A tag like PVE so the right players find you
ServerMOTD and CommunityWebsite Rules on signs around the island and a link to your Discord

A PvE tag, tent decay on and a clear message of the day solve most problems before they start. Do not use the word "official" in your server name or tag; Uuvana asks community servers not to.

Anti-cheat and VPN kicks

Longvinter re-enabled Easy Anti-Cheat in mid 2025 after moving the game to Unreal Engine 5. The game has also had a VPN checker that at times kicked legitimate players on private servers by mistake, which Uuvana fixed in a later patch. If a trusted player keeps getting kicked with a VPN message, have them turn off any VPN and update the game, then check the latest patch notes.

Admin from a hosted server

Most admin work happens in game, but you still need the server side: the config, backups before a wipe or a risky admin action, and restarts.

On a Longvinter server from GamezServers, Admin EOS Account ID is a panel field (several IDs separated by spaces), along with PvP, Tent Decay, Max Tents, Server Tag, MOTD and Community Website. The panel writes them into Game.ini at start, so there is no risk of the running server overwriting your edit. One click backups let you save the island before you dismantle a base or reset anything. A friend group can split the bill, and the island never wipes unless you choose to.

FAQ

How do I make myself admin on a Longvinter server?

Add your EOS account ID from Options > General to AdminSteamID in Game.ini with the server stopped, then start it. On a hosted server, use the admin ID setting in the panel.

Why can't I see the admin panel in Longvinter?

You are not on the admin list. Check you used the EOS ID, not a Steam ID, and restarted the server after adding it.

Can admins remove other players' houses in Longvinter?

Yes. Admins can dismantle houses even if they did not place them.

Does Longvinter have admin chat commands?

Moderation is mostly done from the in game admin panel rather than typed commands.
