How Server Share works

Pay your part, play right away

Most group servers start the same way: one friend buys it, everyone promises to chip in, and by month three that friend is quietly paying for the whole crew. Server Share fixes it at checkout.

Pick a game and plan, choose Split with friends and set how many people are paying. You pay your own share by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the server is ready minutes later. Your dashboard then shows a payment link for each friend. Drop them in the group chat and everyone pays when they are ready. Friends do not need an account to pay, and nobody waits on anyone to start playing.

What a share really costs

Each share is an even part of the monthly price plus a $1 payment fee for that person's card payment. Shares are rounded to the cent and any leftover cent goes on the first share.

A 4 GB Minecraft server at $9.99 split 4 ways is about $3.50 each. A Standard Valheim server at $14.99 split 5 ways is $4.00 each. A 16 GB Palworld server at $39.99 split 8 ways is about $6 each, and an ARK: Survival Ascended server at the same price split 10 ways is about $5. Your first subscription gets 50% off your first month, and so does every friend's first share.

When someone stops paying

Every share that comes in keeps the server running for its part of the month, and your dashboard shows the date it is paid until. If one of three shares is paid, the server runs for about 10 days. When everyone pays, the whole month is covered.

If a friend cancels later, the server stays up and the others cover their part. Each remaining share can rise, but never above the full server price, and payers are emailed before any change, which applies from a renewal at least 7 days away. Add a new friend from your dashboard and everyone's share drops again. You can also remove a link nobody has paid yet at any time.

Friends can help run the server

Splitting the bill also splits the work. Friends who make an account with the email they paid with see the server in their own dashboard, with the live console, the one click actions and the file manager. Only the owner changes the plan, switches games, manages the split and uses SFTP.

Each friend gets their own receipt and a private link to manage or cancel their own share. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays the server off over time, everyone simply pays their own part every month.

Common questions

How many people can split one server?

From 2 to 10. Each person pays an even part of the plan plus a $1 fee on their own payment.

Does the server wait until everyone has paid?

No. You pay your share and the server starts right away. Each friend's payment adds more days, and when every share is in, the full month is covered.

Do my friends need an account to pay?

No. They open their link and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. An account with the same email lets them use the console, actions and files too.

What happens if a friend stops paying?

The server keeps running. The other shares go up to cover it, never above the full server price, and everyone is emailed before their share changes.

Can a friend cancel just their own share?

Yes. Each friend gets a private link in their receipt email to manage or cancel their share, without touching anyone else's.

Can we change the plan on a split server?

Yes. The owner moves to a bigger or smaller plan in Settings and the price change is prorated. The owner's share changes that day, and friends are emailed before theirs changes.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
