A 7 Days to Die crossplay server lets Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players share one world. In serverconfig.xml set ServerAllowCrossplay to true, keep EACEnabled on true, set ServerMaxPlayerCount to 8 or lower, leave IgnoreEOSSanctions on false and run no mods. Console players then find it by name in the server browser.
Is 7 Days to Die crossplay?
Yes. 7 Days to Die supports crossplay between PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC players can join any server they are on the same version as, crossplay or not. Console players can only join servers that meet The Fun Pimps' crossplay server requirements. If a single setting is off, the server still runs fine for PC and simply never shows up on console.
Consoles cannot run a dedicated server themselves, so a PC or hosted dedicated server is how a mixed group gets a world that stays online.
Which serverconfig.xml settings enable crossplay?
These four properties are required by The Fun Pimps:
| Property | Required value | Why |
|---|---|---|
ServerAllowCrossplay |
true |
Ships as false on dedicated servers |
EACEnabled |
true |
Consoles never join a server without Easy Anti-Cheat |
ServerMaxPlayerCount |
8 or lower |
Higher counts make it a PC only server |
IgnoreEOSSanctions |
false |
Keeps Epic Online Services bans enforced |
In the file they look like this:
<property name="ServerAllowCrossplay" value="true"/>
<property name="EACEnabled" value="true"/>
<property name="ServerMaxPlayerCount" value="8"/>
<property name="IgnoreEOSSanctions" value="false"/>
<property name="ServerVisibility" value="2"/>
ServerVisibility set to 2 makes the server public in the browser. Console players search the browser, so a friends only or unlisted server is effectively invisible to them.
Can a crossplay server run mods?
No. Any mod, including small XML modlets, takes a server out of crossplay. Consoles cannot load mods, and Easy Anti-Cheat must stay on, which rules out DLL mods anyway. If your group wants Darkness Falls or another overhaul, that has to be a separate PC only server. See how to install mods on a 7 Days to Die server for that route.
A practical setup for mixed groups is one vanilla crossplay world for everyone and, if the PC players want it, a modded side server.
Do sandbox settings affect crossplay?
They can. The Fun Pimps' requirements page, written before V3, lists valid ranges for gameplay values such as:
| Old property | Allowed for crossplay |
|---|---|
XPMultiplier |
25 to 300 |
BloodMoonEnemyCount |
4 to 64 |
BlockDamagePlayer |
25 to 300 |
LootAbundance |
200 or lower |
LootRespawnDays |
5 or more |
DayNightLength |
10 or more |
Since V3.0 these values live inside the SandboxCode instead of separate lines in serverconfig.xml. The Fun Pimps have not published an updated list for sandbox codes. If PC friends can see the server but consoles cannot, and the four required settings are right, try a sandbox code closer to the defaults (or one of the official presets) to rule this out. Our best 7 Days to Die server settings stays within sensible ranges.
What world size works for crossplay?
Stay at 8192 (8K) or smaller. The Fun Pimps' requirements page does not set a world size, but consoles have far less memory than a gaming PC, and 8K is the size most admins and our own setup guides treat as the safe ceiling for console players. Navezgane is fine. If you want a 10K world, run it as a PC only server.
How do console players join a crossplay server?
Console players cannot type an IP address. They join through the in game browser:
- Open Join a Game from the main menu.
- Search for the exact server name. Clear any filters that hide full, modded or password protected servers.
- Select the server, enter the password if there is one, and join.
PC players can do the same or use Connect to IP. Everyone has to be on the same stable version as the server. Experimental branches are Steam only, so a server on latest_experimental cannot take console players at all.
Why can't PS5 or Xbox players see my server?
Work through this list in order:
- Player count over 8.
ServerMaxPlayerCountof 9 or more makes it PC only. This is the most common cause. - Crossplay off.
ServerAllowCrossplaystillfalse. - EAC off.
EACEnabledset tofalse, often left over from a modded setup. - Mods installed. Even one modlet in the
Modsfolder disqualifies the server. Empty the folder and restart. - Not public.
ServerVisibilityis not2. - Wrong branch. The server is on experimental or an older version branch.
- Not reachable. On a home server, the game port (
26900by default) is not forwarded. Our server not showing up guide covers ports and the browser in detail. - Console privacy settings. The console account must allow cross network play in its system settings.
Restart the server after each change. Settings in serverconfig.xml are only read at startup.

Eight. The Fun Pimps cap crossplay servers at ServerMaxPlayerCount 8, and any higher value turns the server into a PC only server.
Can PS5 and Xbox players play together in 7 Days to Die?
Yes. PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam players can all share one crossplay server as long as it meets the requirements.
Can I use mods on a crossplay server?
No. Any mod removes the server from crossplay, and Easy Anti-Cheat must stay on.
Can console players join with an IP address?
No. Console players can only join through the server browser, so the server must be public and named clearly.
Do PS4 and Xbox One players get crossplay?
