How to join your VEIN server

Launch VEIN and open the server browser from the main menu.

Enter the password from your panel when asked. It is case sensitive.
Common problems
Passwords in VEIN are case sensitive. Copy the password from your panel exactly, capitals included.
If friends get kicked or cannot connect after a game patch, restart the server so it pulls the same build their client has.
Admin menu greyed out? Check your SteamID64 is in AdminSteamIDs (or SuperAdminSteamIDs) under [/Script/Vein.VeinGameSession] in Game.ini, then restart.
The server browser can take a few minutes to list a fresh server. Joining through the console with open skips the wait.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
VEIN server hosting, explained
VEIN puts you in a quiet, rotting American town after the collapse. You search houses room by room, eat what you find, hotwire cars, fix up a generator and board up a base before the infected find it. It is slow and detailed: wounds, hunger, fuel and electricity all matter. Ramjet Studios released it in Early Access on Steam in October 2025 and it still patches often.
Most servers are small co-op groups who want a shared base that does not vanish when the host shuts down. Others run open servers with PvP on, where other survivors are a bigger threat than the dead. A dedicated server gives both kinds a world that is always reachable, and since VEIN stopped storing server settings in the save, the server itself is where your rules live.
In the panel you set the server name, password, max players, whether the server shows publicly and automatic updates. Admins are added by SteamID64 in Game.ini, which you can edit in the file manager. Once you are an admin, the in game admin menu lets you change PvP, loot amounts and XP rates on the fly, and console commands only work for listed admins.
VEIN runs on Unreal Engine and simulates a large town with physics heavy objects, so it wants more memory than its look suggests. A group of up to six fits on 8 GB. Around 16 players, our default slot count, is more comfortable on 12 GB, and bigger public servers should start at 16 GB. Sleep when empty helps on quiet weekdays, since the world saves and stops until someone wakes it.

Common questions
How many players can a VEIN server hold?
We start at 16 slots and you can change Max players in the panel. The game has no documented hard cap, but most groups find things run best at 32 or fewer.
How do I add admins to my VEIN server?
Open Game.ini in the file manager and add each SteamID64 as AdminSteamIDs or SuperAdminSteamIDs under [/Script/Vein.VeinGameSession], then restart. Admin commands and the admin menu only work for players listed there.
How do I turn PvP on or off?
Join as an admin and open the admin menu, then change PvP in its Config section. Loot scarcity and XP rates are set there too.
Can I make my VEIN server private?
Yes. Every server gets a password, which you can change in the panel, and you can turn off Public Server to hide it from the browser. Friends can still join through the console.
Does VEIN have mods on dedicated servers?
VEIN does not have an official modding toolkit yet, so servers run the game as Ramjet ships it. Most customization comes from the admin menu and Game.ini.
Can I move my single player world to the server?
You can upload a save with the file manager, but only the world itself carries over. Server settings and admins are not stored in the save, so set them again on the new server.
Will my server keep up with VEIN updates?
Yes, with Auto update on the server installs the newest build when it restarts. Restart after a patch so your players' version matches.
Do I need to own VEIN to run a server?
No. The dedicated server is a separate free download we install for you. Each player needs their own copy of VEIN on Steam.
Is GamezServers affiliated with VEIN?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated VEIN server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
