VEIN Admin Commands, Admin Menu and How to Kick or Ban

On a VEIN server, admin power comes from your SteamID64 being listed as AdminSteamIDs or SuperAdminSteamIDs under [/Script/Vein.VeinGameSession] in Game.ini. Once listed, press the backslash key (\) to open the admin menu, where you kick, ban, teleport, spawn items and change PvP, loot and XP in its **Config** section. Press **~** for the console, where admins can run cheats such as sz, giveitem, Heal and any vein. setting. Since mid 2026, console commands are refused for players who are not admins.

Admins and super admins

VEIN has two ranks, both set in Vein/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini (WindowsServer on Windows):

Ramjet's server docs say you do not need to list an ID in both. Putting yourself under SuperAdminSteamIDs alone is enough. For several people, the first line is plain and every extra line starts with a +:

The + is the part people miss. Ramjet's docs ask for it before every extra entry, and without it the extra admins may not load at all.

Three more checks when the menu says you need admin permissions:

• SteamID64, not a SteamID or name. It is the 17 digit number starting with 7656. A player on the Steam forums spent hours with an empty Admins set: line in the log because of this.
• Right section. IDs outside [/Script/Vein.VeinGameSession] are ignored.
• Restart. Edit with the server stopped, then start it. The log prints Superadmins set: and Admins set: with your IDs if it worked.

Opening the admin menu and the console

On keyboards without a US layout the console key moves. Ramjet's developer suggested ^, PgUp or # to a player whose tilde key did nothing, and PgUp worked. There is also a gameplay setting that allows the tilde key to open the console, so check it is on. If backslash does nothing, rebind the admin menu key in the controls. Some players open it from the console instead with OpenAdminMenu.

What is in the admin menu

The admin menu has grown in almost every patch. As of the 0.025 update (September 2026) it covers:

Changes made under Config stay set. Ramjet's docs recommend changing settings there where you can, because it is slightly better for network performance than pushing console variables, but they note the menu shows only a subset of all the options.

How to kick or ban a player

1. Press backslash (\) to open the admin menu.
2. Pick the player you want as the target. The menu shows extra data about the selected player, including their character name and ID.
3. Use the kick or ban option for that player.

Bans are written to a config file on the server when they happen, and the ban management list in the admin menu (added in 0.017) is where you review and lift them. Since 0.019 Hotfix 7 you can also ban by IP for repeat offenders on new accounts. Two built in limits: admins cannot ban the server host, and since 0.022 Hotfix 5 every admin action is written to the server log, which helps when several people share admin.

For a group that only wants known players, a whitelist is cleaner than chasing bans. Since 0.023, any SteamID64 listed as WhitelistedPlayers under [/Script/Vein.VeinGameStateBase] in Game.ini makes the server whitelist only, using the same + format for extra lines.

Console commands admins use

Type these in the console (~). In multiplayer they only run for admins. These names come from Ramjet's patch notes and developer replies; the console's autocomplete shows the full current set.

Avoid DeleteSaveGame and DeleteAllSaveGames on a live server unless you mean it. Take a backup first either way.

Changing settings from the console

Every vein. console variable can be set live by an admin, for example:

vein.Scarcity.Difficulty runs from 0 (None) through 1 (More Loot), 2 (Standard) and 3 (Less Loot) to 4 (Impossible). A console change is live but may not survive a restart. To keep it, put the same line in Engine.ini under [ConsoleVariables] (as vein.PvP=0), or set it in the admin menu's Config page. Ramjet keeps the full list in its console variable docs, and PrintAllVeinSettings in a single player game prints the current list to the log.

Extras worth setting up

• Admin badges: GS_ShowScoreboardBadges=1 under [/Script/Vein.ServerSettings] in Game.ini shows admin and super admin badges on the scoreboard; 0 hides them.
• Admin reports to Discord: DiscordChatAdminWebhookURL="https://discord.com/api/webhooks/..." in the same section sends player reports to a Discord channel, so you see them while offline.

Running admin on a GamezServers VEIN server

On a VEIN server from GamezServers, Game.ini and Engine.ini open in the panel's file manager, the live console shows the Admins set: line after a restart, and a one click backup before a cleanup sweep means a mistaken "remove items in radius" is easy to undo.
