What comes set up on a Foundry server

Shared research and factory

Everyone on the server shares one tech tree and one set of production lines, so progress never waits on one PC.

Pause when empty

Freeze the world while nobody is on, so the factory never runs unattended and jams while everyone is away.

Seed, autosave and cap

Set the map seed, autosave interval, player cap and public listing right in the panel.

Workshop mods

Run Unfoundry based mods like Duplicationer blueprints, with every player on the same Workshop collection.

How to join your Foundry server

  1. 1

Launch FOUNDRY and choose Multiplayer from the main menu.

  2. 2

    Pick IP Direct Connect.

  3. 3

Enter 203.0.113.24 and the password from your panel if you set one, then connect.

  4. 4

If the server runs mods, subscribe to the same mods on the Steam Workshop first.

Common problems

Mods don't sync. Players have to install the same mods as the server. Make a Steam Workshop collection with the server's mod list and share it.

Most server mods need Unfoundry. If a mod fails to load on the server, check that Unfoundry is installed and that the mod supports dedicated servers.

Can't find the server in the browser? Use IP Direct Connect with the address instead. The Steam list only shows servers with Server Public on.

Changing the Map Seed only affects a new world. Set it before the first start.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Modding your Foundry server

FOUNDRY has Steam Workshop support, and most mods are built on the Unfoundry framework. The server loads them from its Mods folder, and players install the same set from the Workshop.

Foundry server hosting, explained

FOUNDRY from Channel 3 Entertainment, published by Paradox Interactive, is a first person factory builder in an infinite voxel world. You mine ore, lay out conveyors and machines, research new tech and scale up to a robot producing megafactory. It has been in Early Access since May 2024. Co-op is where it shines: one player expands the mining outposts, another redesigns the smelting line, a third plans the train network.

A dedicated server means the factory is there for anyone in the group to log into, and research is shared by everyone on it. The panel covers the server name, world name, password, max players, map seed, autosave interval, public listing and auto update. Pause Server When Empty freezes the world when nobody is online, so the factory only runs while someone is there to watch it.

Mods arrived with Steam Workshop support, and most are built on the Unfoundry framework. Duplicationer adds blueprints for copying whole sections of factory, which co-op groups use constantly. Mods don't sync on join, so put the server's mods in a Workshop collection for your players. Some mods are client only and won't load on the server, so check each one's page.

Memory grows with the size of your factory and how much of the voxel world players have dug out. A small group on a fresh map runs on 8 GB. Mid game factories with many machines, outposts and trains want 12 GB, and a big group with a sprawling late game factory should go to 16 GB. You can move between plans in the panel as the factory grows.

Common questions

How many players can join a FOUNDRY server?

Up to 32, set with Server Max Players in the panel. The game plays best with smaller co-op groups, and most servers stay well below that.

Should I pause the server when it's empty?

Usually yes. With Pause Server When Empty on, the world stops while nobody is connected, so production only runs when someone is there.

How do players join a FOUNDRY server?

Through IP Direct Connect in the Multiplayer menu, with the server address. Public servers also show in the Steam server browser.

Can I run mods on a FOUNDRY server?

Yes. Upload the mods to the server's Mods folder and restart. Most need Unfoundry, and every player needs the same mods installed.

Can I choose the map seed?

Yes. Set the Map Seed in the panel before the world is created. Changing it later only affects a new world.

Is research shared on a server?

Yes. Research progress on a dedicated server is shared by everyone, so the whole group moves up the tech tree together.

How often does the server save?

Every 300 seconds by default. Change Autosave Interval in the panel, and take a backup before big changes or game updates.

Is GamezServers affiliated with Foundry?

No. You rent and control your own dedicated Foundry server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
