The Isle Evrima Server Not Showing or Can't Join? How to Fix It

Fix an Evrima server missing from the browser or refusing joins: evrima branch, Steam ping limit, build mismatch, EOS lines in Engine.ini, ports and EAC.

If an Evrima server does not show in The Isle's browser, or players time out joining it, check this order: everyone is on the evrima Steam branch (the Legacy branch shows a different server list), the game and server are on the exact same build, the server started cleanly with its Epic Online Services lines in Engine.ini, UDP 7777 and TCP 10000 are open, and the browser is not hidden by filters or Steam's ping limit. A server also needs a few minutes after a restart or patch to re-register before it appears.

The Isle's server browser has a reputation for being slow and half empty even when nothing is wrong. Ruling out the client side first saves a lot of time changing server settings that were fine.

Player side checks

1. Use the evrima branch

Evrima is a beta branch of The Isle on Steam. A player on the Legacy branch sees a completely different and mostly dead server list, and cannot join Evrima servers. In Steam: right click The Isle, Properties, Betas, and select evrima. Let it download, then relaunch.

2. Raise Steam's server ping limit

Steam limits how many servers it pings per minute, which can leave the in game list half empty or blank. In the Steam client, open Settings, In Game, and raise In-Game server browser: Max pings / minute to a high value such as 3000. Restart Steam and refresh.

3. Clear the filters

Clear the name search, and turn off filters that hide empty or password protected servers while you test. A new server with no players is exactly what a filter for empty servers removes.

4. Restart Steam and Easy Anti-Cheat

A stale session or half loaded anti cheat quietly blocks connections. Fully exit Steam (not just close the window), reopen it, and launch the game again. If EAC throws errors, verify the game files: right click The Isle, Properties, Installed Files, Verify integrity of game files.

5. Use favorites as a fallback

When the browser is slow, add the server through Steam: View, Game Servers, Favorites, Add a Server, then enter the address. It is a good second check too. If the server answers there but not in game, the problem is the browser, not the server.

Server side checks

6. Match the build exactly

The game and the server must be on the exact same build, or players get timeouts and the server goes missing from their list. After every Evrima patch, update the server on the evrima branch:

steamcmd +force_install_dir C:\servers\theisle +login anonymous +app_update 412680 -beta evrima validate +quit

Then restart. Watch the console until the map has loaded.

7. Check the EOS lines in Engine.ini

Evrima servers authenticate with Epic Online Services. Engine.ini needs:

[EpicOnlineServices]
DedicatedServerClientId=...
DedicatedServerClientSecret=...

Without them, the server does not start properly and never appears. Copy the values from a current, trusted setup guide, and check the log for EOS authentication errors after start. A typo in the section name has the same effect as missing lines.

8. Open the ports

Port Protocol Purpose
7777 UDP Game traffic
10000 TCP Join queue, if bQueueEnabled=true
8888 TCP RCON, only if enabled

Forward them to the server machine's local IP and allow inbound traffic through the firewall for both UDP and TCP where listed. If you run several servers on one machine, each needs its own block of ports, with matching values in Game.ini. If the queue is enabled but its port is closed, the server can show yet fail joins when it is busy. Our port forwarding guide covers routers, and how to tell if you are behind CGNAT helps when forwarding seems right but nothing gets in.

9. Give it a few minutes

After a restart or a fresh patch, a server takes a few minutes to re-register with the backend. Many owners change working settings during that window and then chase a new problem. Wait, refresh, then troubleshoot.

10. Password and whitelist

A server with bServerPassword=true asks for the password, and one with bServerWhitelist=true refuses anyone not in WhitelistIDs. If only some people cannot join, check whether a whitelist is on. Admin and whitelist IDs belong under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase] in Game.ini, as our Evrima hosting guide explains.

A herd of dinosaurs on The Isle

Quick reference

Symptom Likely cause
Browser empty for one player Wrong branch, ping limit, or filters
Server missing for everyone Server outdated, EOS lines missing, or ports closed
Visible, joins time out Build mismatch, or UDP 7777 blocked
Joins fail only when busy Queue port closed
Gone right after a patch Not updated yet, or still re-registering
Some players refused Whitelist or password on

On a hosted server

A GamezServers The Isle server installs on the evrima branch with the EOS credentials already in the startup, so the server side of this page mostly disappears: ports are assigned and open on a fixed address, and Auto Update keeps it on the newest build so clients and server match. Enable Queue, RCON, the server password and the player count are panel settings, and Game.ini is in the file manager for admins and the whitelist. When players still cannot see it, the live console tells you whether the map finished loading, which leaves only the player side checks above.

FAQ

Why can't I see any Evrima servers?

You are probably on the Legacy branch, or Steam's ping limit is too low. Switch to the evrima branch and raise Max pings / minute in Steam's In Game settings.

Why does joining my Evrima server time out?

Usually the game and server are on different builds. Update the server with SteamCMD on the evrima branch and restart.

What ports does The Isle Evrima need?

UDP 7777 for the game and TCP 10000 for the queue. TCP 8888 only if RCON is enabled.

How long until a restarted server shows up?

A few minutes. Servers re-register with the backend after a restart or patch.
