To move a Conan Exiles single player or co-op save to a server, copy the save database from steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\ on your PC: game_0.db on Enhanced, game.db on Legacy (dlc_siptah.db for a Legacy Siptah world). Stop the server, upload it into the server's ConanSandbox/Saved/ with the same name, replacing its file, and start it. The server must run the same build as the save, Enhanced or Legacy, with the same mods in the same order.
What you can and cannot move
| Save | Can it move to a server? |
|---|---|
| Single player or co-op save, Enhanced (current Steam version) to an Enhanced server | Yes, game_0.db |
| Legacy save (Epic, Microsoft Store, Steam Legacy branch) to a Legacy server | Yes, game.db or dlc_siptah.db |
| Legacy save to an Enhanced server | Yes. Enhanced converts game.db once, on first load. See the gotcha below |
| Enhanced save to a Legacy server | No. The upgrade is one way |
| Console save | No. Console saves cannot be copied off the console, and console players cannot join PC servers |
| Modded save on a server without the mods | No. Missing mods break buildings and items that used them |
What goes where
| File | What it holds | On your PC | On the server |
|---|---|---|---|
game_0.db (Enhanced) or game.db (Legacy) |
The world: buildings, thralls, chests, clans and every character | ...\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\ |
ConanSandbox/Saved/ |
dlc_siptah.db |
A Legacy Isle of Siptah world. Enhanced merged Siptah into the Exiled Lands | Same folder | ConanSandbox/Saved/ |
ServerSettings.ini |
Harvest rates, decay, PvP and raid rules, admin password | ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\ (a platform subfolder) |
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/ (the server's platform subfolder) |
Mod .pak files and modlist.txt |
Mods and their load order | Steam Workshop folder | ConanSandbox/Mods/ |
To open the folder, right click Conan Exiles in Steam, choose Manage, then Browse local files. If Steam lives under Program Files and the save is not there, Windows may have redirected it to %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\.

Before you start
- Close the game so the database is fully written. Copying it while the game runs can give you a broken file.
- Back up the whole
Savedfolder. - Pick the matching server build. Enhanced for the current Steam version, Legacy for Epic, Microsoft Store or Steam's Legacy branch. Players must run the same build as the server.
- Write down your mods and their order from the in game mod list.
Step 1: Stop the server and back it up
Stop the server so it is not writing to its database, then back it up. The server made its own world on first start, and you may want it back.
Step 2: Remove the server's save
In ConanSandbox/Saved/ on the server, delete (or rename) the server's own database: game_0.db on Enhanced, game.db on Legacy. On an Enhanced server that started before, delete game_0.db even if you are uploading a game.db. Leave the game_backup_ files alone or clear them, they are not loaded.
Step 3: Upload your database
Upload your game_0.db or game.db into ConanSandbox/Saved/. Long running worlds reach hundreds of megabytes, so use SFTP (FileZilla or WinSCP) and let the transfer finish completely.
Step 4: Mods and settings
Upload the same mod .pak files into ConanSandbox/Mods/ and list them in ConanSandbox/Mods/modlist.txt, one per line with an asterisk in front, in the same order you used:
*Pippi.pak
*Emberlight.pak
Keep the original .pak file names. If you want your single player rules on the server, copy the values from your local ServerSettings.ini into the server's copy rather than uploading the whole file, since the server has its own ports and passwords set. Then start the server and watch the console. The first load of a big save can take several minutes.
The gotcha: Enhanced ignores game.db once game_0.db exists
When Funcom moved Steam to Conan Exiles Enhanced in May 2026, the save file changed. On its first start, Enhanced copies game.db into game_0.db, but only if game_0.db does not exist yet, and from then on it only reads game_0.db. An Enhanced server that has started even once already has its own game_0.db. Upload your game.db next to it and the server keeps loading its fresh world, while your file sits there unused.
The fix is to delete the server's game_0.db before starting, so the conversion runs on your file. If your local game is already on Enhanced, skip all of this and upload your own game_0.db directly. The conversion only goes one way, so keep a copy of the old game.db in case you ever need Legacy again.
What happens to characters
Characters live in the database, linked to each player's platform account. When the whole file moves, the host and anyone who played in the co-op world usually find their character, clan, thralls and base waiting when they join with the same account. Admin rights do not move: set an admin password in ServerSettings.ini and use MakeMeAdmin in the console.
Common problems
- Server loads a fresh world: on Enhanced, the server's
game_0.dbwas still there, or you uploaded under the wrong name. On Legacy, check it isgame.db(ordlc_siptah.dbfor Siptah). - Can't connect after the move: the server runs Enhanced and the player is on Legacy, or the reverse. Match the build.
- Mod mismatch when joining: a mod is missing, outdated or in a different order from
modlist.txt. Old UE4 mods often need an author update before they work on Enhanced. - Buildings missing or floating: the save used a mod the server does not have.
- Crash on start: the database copy was incomplete or taken while the game was running. Copy it again with the game closed.
Moving it to GamezServers
A Conan Exiles server from GamezServers lets you switch between the Enhanced and Standard (Legacy) types in the panel, so the server matches your save. Upload the database over SFTP from Settings or in the file manager, which also handles zips, extracting and downloading a file from a link straight to the server. Click Backup before you replace anything, and the world stays online without anyone hosting. For mods, see how to install mods on a Conan Exiles server.
FAQ
Where is the Conan Exiles single player save?
In steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\, as game_0.db on Enhanced or game.db on Legacy. Legacy Siptah worlds are dlc_siptah.db.
Will my friends keep their characters?
Usually yes. Characters are stored in the database against each player's account, so they appear when that player joins with the same account.
Can I put a Legacy save on an Enhanced server?
Yes. Delete the server's game_0.db, upload your game.db, and Enhanced converts it on first start. It cannot be converted back.
Do I need the same mods on the server?
Yes. The server and every player need the same mods in the same load order, or the save breaks and players cannot join.
