Conan Exiles server rules live in ServerSettings.ini in ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/. The keys most groups change are HarvestAmountMultiplier and PlayerXPRateMultiplier (both 1 by default), PVPEnabled, RestrictPVPTime and RestrictPVPBuildingDamageTime for raid windows, CanDamagePlayerOwnedStructures, AvatarsDisabled and ClanMaxSize. Stop the server before you edit, because Conan rewrites its ini files on shutdown.
Where are the Conan Exiles server config files?
All three files sit in the same folder on a dedicated server:
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/
On a Linux server, including the Enhanced type on GamezServers, the folder is LinuxServer instead of WindowsServer; the files inside are the same.
| File | What it holds |
|---|---|
ServerSettings.ini |
Gameplay: rates, PvP, raids, decay, avatars, clans, passwords |
Game.ini |
Player cap under [/Script/Engine.GameSession] as MaxPlayers=, RCON settings |
Engine.ini |
Server name under [OnlineSubsystem], network options, disabled map regions |
Most keys go under the [ServerSettings] header. Funcom documents the full list, with defaults and which keys need a restart, in its server INI settings reference for Conan Exiles Enhanced. You can also change most of these live from the in game admin panel, which writes them back to the file. See Conan Exiles admin commands for getting admin.
The safe way to edit by hand: stop the server, edit, save, start. Edits made while the server runs can be overwritten when it shuts down.
What do the rate multipliers do?
| Key | Default | What it does | Good starting value for a small group |
|---|---|---|---|
HarvestAmountMultiplier |
1 | Resources per swing | 2 to 3 |
ResourceRespawnSpeedMultiplier |
1 | How fast nodes come back | 1.5 to 2 |
PlayerXPRateMultiplier |
1 | All XP gains | 2 to 3 |
PlayerXPTimeMultiplier |
1 | Passive XP just for surviving | 1 to 2 |
ItemConvertionMultiplier |
1.0 | Crafting time, lower is faster | 0.5 |
ThrallConversionMultiplier |
1.0 | Wheel of Pain time, lower is faster | 0.5 |
CraftingCostMultiplier |
1.0 | Materials per recipe, lower is cheaper | 1.0 |
ItemSpoilRateScale |
1 | How quickly food spoils | 1.0 |
NPCRespawnMultiplier |
1 | How fast enemies come back | 1.0 |
DurabilityMultiplier |
1 | Gear wear | 0.5 to 1 |
Official servers run close to 1x, which is tuned for 40 players sharing the map. A group of 4 to 10 friends usually enjoys 2x to 3x harvest and XP. Going above 3x harvest fills inventories on every swing and makes the early game pointless.
Two keys have backwards sounding names: ItemConvertionMultiplier and ThrallConversionMultiplier are time multipliers. Set them below 1 to make crafting and thrall breaking faster.
How do I set PvE, PvP or PvE-Conflict?
| Server type | Settings |
|---|---|
| PvE | PVPEnabled=False |
| PvP | PVPEnabled=True, CanDamagePlayerOwnedStructures=True |
| PvE-Conflict | PVPEnabled=True, CombatModeModifier=1, building damage off |
| PvP with raid hours | PVPEnabled=True, RestrictPVPBuildingDamageTime=True plus daily windows |
PVPEnabled needs a restart to change. In PvE-Conflict, players can fight each other but nobody can damage buildings, which suits clans who like skirmishes but not losing bases.
How do PvP and raid windows work?
Conan has two separate time limits:
RestrictPVPTime=Truelimits player fighting to set hours.RestrictPVPBuildingDamageTime=Truelimits raiding (damage to buildings) to set hours.
Each day of the week gets its own switch and window. The keys use the day name, and times are 24 hour HHMM values:
[ServerSettings]
PVPEnabled=True
CanDamagePlayerOwnedStructures=True
RestrictPVPBuildingDamageTime=True
PVPBuildingDamageEnabledFriday=True
PVPBuildingDamageTimeFridayStart=1900
PVPBuildingDamageTimeFridayEnd=2300
PVPBuildingDamageEnabledSaturday=True
PVPBuildingDamageTimeSaturdayStart=1800
PVPBuildingDamageTimeSaturdayEnd=2359
That gives raids on Friday and Saturday evenings only. 1900 means 7 pm on the server's clock, so check the server's time zone against your players' before you announce raid hours.
DisableBuildingDuringTimeRestrictedPVP=True stops anyone building during the raid window, which ends the trick of walling up a base mid raid.
What controls building damage and decay?
| Key | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
CanDamagePlayerOwnedStructures |
False | Lets players damage other players' buildings. Needs PVPEnabled |
BuildingDamageMultiplier |
1.0 | Damage buildings take. Lower makes raids slower |
DynamicBuildingDamage |
False | Buildings can only be damaged while an owner is online, or for a time after they log off |
DynamicBuildingDamagePeriod |
1800 | Seconds after the last owner logs off that the base stays raidable |
DisableBuildingAbandonment |
True | Turns off building decay entirely. Needs a restart |
BuildingDecayTimeMultiplier |
1.0 | Higher values make decay slower, when decay is on |
LandClaimRadiusMultiplier |
1.0 | How much space around a base blocks other building and spawns. Needs a restart |
NoOwnership |
False | Anyone can open, use and dismantle anything |
DynamicBuildingDamage is the fairest option for PvP servers with players in different time zones: nobody gets raided while asleep, but you cannot log off to dodge an ongoing fight forever.
On a private server, decay is mostly about cleaning up after players who leave. If your group is stable, leave DisableBuildingAbandonment=True. On a public server, turn decay on so abandoned bases do not cover the map.

How do avatar settings work?
Avatars are the god summons that can level a base in seconds, so most servers limit them.
| Key | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
AvatarsDisabled |
False | Turns avatar summoning off completely |
AvatarLifetime |
600 | Seconds an avatar stays after summoning |
RestrictAvatarSummoningTime |
False | Limits summoning to set hours |
AvatarSummoningTimeWeekdayStart / End |
0 | Summoning window Monday to Friday |
AvatarSummoningTimeWeekendStart / End |
0 | Summoning window Saturday and Sunday |
PvE and PvE-Conflict servers usually set AvatarsDisabled=True. PvP servers that allow avatars often tie the summoning window to the raid window.
What other settings matter?
| Key | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
ClanMaxSize |
30 | Largest allowed clan. Small PvP servers often use 4 to 8 |
DropEquipmentOnDeath |
DropEverything | How much you drop when you die |
EverybodyCanLootCorpse |
True | Whether others can loot your body |
LogoutCharactersRemainInTheWorld |
True | Offline bodies stay in the world, unconscious |
ContainersIgnoreOwnership |
False | All containers open to everyone |
DisableThrallDecay |
True | Thralls never decay |
EnableWhitelist |
False | Only whitelisted players can join |
MaxNudity |
Full | Caps nudity regardless of client settings |
ChatHasGlobal |
True | Global chat channel on or off |
ServerPassword |
empty | Join password |
AdminPassword |
empty | Password for MakeMeAdmin |
Turning LogoutCharactersRemainInTheWorld off is popular on PvP servers where players complain about being killed while offline.
Can I disable the Isle of Siptah region?
On Enhanced, the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah are one map split into regions. Funcom documents excluding a region in Engine.ini, which also lowers RAM use:
[Regions]
ExcludedRegions=IsleOfSiptah
The region still appears, but its sublevels are not loaded on the server.

FAQ
Where is ServerSettings.ini for Conan Exiles?
In ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ inside the dedicated server folder, next to Game.ini and Engine.ini. Linux servers, including our Enhanced type, use LinuxServer instead.
Why do my Conan Exiles server settings keep resetting?
The server rewrites its ini files when it shuts down, so edits made while it was running get overwritten. Stop the server, edit, save and start it again, or change settings live through the admin panel.
How do I set max players on a Conan Exiles server?
Add MaxPlayers= under [/Script/Engine.GameSession] in Game.ini and restart. Match it to your group and the server's RAM.
How do I turn off raiding but keep PvP?
Set PVPEnabled=True and CanDamagePlayerOwnedStructures=False, or use CombatModeModifier=1 for PvE-Conflict. Players can fight, but buildings cannot be damaged.
What does HarvestAmountMultiplier do?
It multiplies the resources you get each time you harvest. 1 is the default, and 2 to 3 suits small private groups.
Easier on a hosted server
A GamezServers Conan Exiles server gives you ServerSettings.ini, Game.ini and Engine.ini in the file manager and over SFTP, plus a Stop button so your edits stick. Choose the Enhanced or Standard (Legacy) type to match your players, and take a one click backup before trying a new ruleset. Plans start at 8 GB, which suits a small clan, and bigger plans are there for busy PvP or modded roleplay servers.
Skip the setup. Your own Conan Exiles server.
