To list a Schedule 1 dedicated server publicly, sign in to the S1DS server portal at s1servers.com with Steam, create a listing credential, paste its ID and secret into the [publicListing] section of server_config.toml, set publicListingEnabled = true and restart. Players then find your server in the Public tab of the S1DS server browser.
How does the Schedule 1 public server list work?
Schedule I has no official server browser for dedicated servers, because dedicated servers come from the community mod S1DedicatedServers (S1DS). Version v1.1.0, released on 21 September 2026, added a Public tab to the mod's server browser, next to Favorites and History.
Listing is opt in and off by default. Anonymous listing is not supported: a server needs a credential from the operator portal, so every listing is tied to a Steam account. A server that is not listed can still be joined by IP and port with Direct Connect, so listing is only about being found by strangers.
What does the public list show about your server?
From the S1DS public server list docs, a listed server publishes:
| Published | Not published |
|---|---|
Public IP address and serverPort |
The server password |
| Server name and description | Operator identities |
| Current and maximum players | Player identities |
| Whether it is password protected | Save data |
| Game, mod and directory protocol versions | Your listing secret |
Before a server appears for a player, the player's client checks it directly through the TCP status endpoint, so latency and player counts in the list are live.
Before you start
- A working server on S1DS v1.1.0 or newer. Check the version in the server log or update with our Schedule 1 server setup guide.
- Both ports reachable.
serverPort(38465 by default) must be open over UDP for gameplay and TCP for status queries. A server forwarded on UDP only will never verify in the Public tab. - A Steam account to sign in to the portal. Discord sign in is listed as coming soon.
Step 1: Create a listing credential
- Go to the S1DS server portal and sign in with Steam.
- Create a new public listing key for your server.
- Copy the listing ID and the listing secret somewhere safe straight away. The portal only shows the secret once, when it is issued.
Treat the secret like a password. The S1DS docs warn not to publish it in support logs, screenshots or public config examples.
Step 2: Edit server_config.toml
- Stop the server.
- Open
UserData/server_config.tomlin the game folder. - Find or add the
[publicListing]section and fill it in:
[publicListing]
publicListingEnabled = true
publicListingServiceUrl = 'https://list.s1servers.com'
publicListingId = 'YOUR_LISTING_ID'
publicListingSecret = 'YOUR_LISTING_SECRET'
- While you are in the file, set a clear name and description under
[server], since these are what players see:
[server]
serverName = 'Hyland Point Crew | Chill | EU'
serverDescription = 'Friendly economy server, new players welcome. Mature crew, no griefing.'
- Save and start the server.
Keep the quotes around every text value. A missing quote stops the config from loading. Our Schedule 1 server settings guide explains the rest of the file.
Step 3: Check it appears
The server starts sending heartbeats once the game, the save, the gameplay transport and the TCP status endpoint are all ready, which can take a few minutes after a cold start. Then:
- Open Schedule I with the S1DS client mod installed.
- Click Servers and open the Public tab.
- Search for your server name.
The server sends a heartbeat every five minutes. If the directory hears nothing for 15 minutes, the listing expires, and a clean shutdown tries to remove it straight away.
Why is my Schedule 1 server not in the Public tab?
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Never appears | publicListingEnabled is still false, or the ID or secret is empty |
Fill in all four keys and restart |
| Never appears | Server is older than v1.1.0 | Update the server mod and every player's client mod |
| Appears, then shows as unavailable | TCP on serverPort is blocked |
Open 38465 on TCP as well as UDP |
| Vanished after a crash | No heartbeat for 15 minutes | Start the server. It relists itself |
| "Temporarily unavailable" in the Public tab | The directory service is down | Wait. Direct Connect, Favorites and History still work |
| Lost or leaked the secret | Credential exposed | Rotate it in the portal and replace the ID and secret together |
If players can see the server but not join, the problem is the usual one: game, client mod and server versions must match. See Schedule 1 can't connect to dedicated server.
How do I remove my server from the public list?
Set publicListingEnabled = false and restart. The listing disappears once its 15 minute presence expires. Keep the same ID and secret if you might list again later, so you keep the same listing identity. To kill a listing completely, revoke the credential in the portal, which also stops any further heartbeats with it.
Should you list your server at all?
Think before you list. In S1DS v1.1.0, serverPassword only marks a server as password protected in listings. The client has no password box and the server does not check it. So a public server really is public: anyone with Schedule I and the client mod can join. Steam sign in, kick and ban are your controls. Set up staff before you list, with our Schedule 1 dedicated server commands guide.
List if you want a community. Stay unlisted if the server is for your friends, and share the address or an invite link instead.
Listing a GamezServers Schedule 1 server
On our Schedule 1 server hosting, the game port is already open on both UDP and TCP, so the public list works with no networking work. Stop the server, open UserData/server_config.toml in the Files tab, fill in the [publicListing] section and start it again. The server name comes from your panel settings and the port is managed for you, so leave serverPort as it is. Plans run from 14.99 USD a month for 4 players to 29.99 USD for 16, with 50% off the first month for new customers.
FAQ
Is listing a Schedule 1 server free?
The S1DS server portal and public listing are part of the free, open source mod. You only need a Steam account to sign in.
How long does it take for my server to show in the Public tab?
Usually a few minutes after the server has fully started, once its first heartbeat arrives. Heartbeats are sent every five minutes.
Can I list a server without port forwarding?
No. Players' clients query your server over TCP before showing it, and gameplay uses UDP, so serverPort must be reachable on both.
Can I password protect a public Schedule 1 server?
Not effectively yet. In v1.1.0 the password only shows a lock in listings and is not checked on join. Use bans and staff permissions instead.
Where do I find my listing secret again?
You cannot view it again. Rotate the credential in the server portal and put the new ID and secret in server_config.toml together.
