What comes set up on a The Forest server
Built for 8 survivors
The Forest is designed for up to 8 players in one world, all sharing one base.
Continue your world
Set Init Type to Continue and the server loads your saved world every restart instead of starting fresh.
Peaceful to Hard
Pick Peaceful for building without raids, Normal for the usual scares or Hard for more cannibals.
Steam token handled
We make the Steam server token the game needs for saves, so there is nothing to create or paste.

Common problems
Switch Init Type to Continue after the first start. Left on New, every restart begins a fresh world.
Save often. Join with the admin password, then type /save in chat before you restart or shut down the server.
Players on a Steam beta branch cannot join. Everyone should be on the normal public version.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
The Forest server hosting, explained
The Forest is Endnight's survival horror game. Your plane goes down, your son is taken, and the peninsula is full of cannibals with worse things in the caves. In co-op, the group splits up chopping logs, building walls and setting traps, then teams up to push into the cave system. It plays best when everyone shares one fortified base and someone always seems to be getting dragged off.
With player hosting, the world only exists while the host is online. A dedicated server keeps the base standing and lets anyone in the group play on their own time, then pick up where the others left off. Small groups use it to finish the story at their own pace, and building fans use it to grow huge treehouse forts that would take weeks with one host.
In the panel you set the server name, max players, difficulty from Peaceful to Hard, server password, admin password, VAC and auto update. Init Type decides whether the server starts a new game or continues the saved one. We make the Steam server token the game uses to keep saves and player progress, so you never deal with it. Admins log in from chat with /login to save, kick or ban.
The server is not heavy, but a big base with hundreds of structures and a full group raises memory over time. 4 GB suits two to four players. 6 GB is the right pick for a full group of 8, and 8 GB covers long running worlds with very large builds. Up to 10 friends can split the bill, each paying their share, which makes a full group very cheap per person.

Common questions
How many players can join The Forest dedicated server?
The game is designed for up to 8 players. Our setup starts with 10 in the Max Players field, but 8 or fewer gives the smoothest game.
Do I need a Steam server token?
No. We make the Steam token for your server when it is set up. The game uses it to keep saves and player progress.
How do I continue an existing world?
Set Init Type to Continue and restart. Take a backup from the panel first if you switch between saves.
How do I use admin commands?
Enter the admin password when you join the server. Then type commands in the multiplayer chat (press Enter), like /save, /kick and /ban with a player's SteamID64.
Can I play the world on Peaceful?
Yes. Set Difficulty to Peaceful, Normal or Hard in the panel. Peaceful has no enemy attacks, which suits builders.
Can I keep the server private?
Yes. Set a Server Password and only players who know it can get in. Keep the admin password for people you trust.
Is my progress saved if the server restarts?
Yes, as long as the game has saved and Init Type is Continue. Use /save before a restart to be safe.
How much RAM does The Forest need?
4 GB for a small group and 6 GB for a full group of 8. Go to 8 GB if your base gets very large.
Is GamezServers affiliated with The Forest?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated The Forest server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
