RCON without the headset off

Set the RCON password and port in the panel, then switch maps, kick and ban from an RCON tool while you play.

How to join your Pavlov VR server

  1. 1

Launch Pavlov from Steam with your headset on.

  2. 2

Open the server list from the main menu and search for your server's name.

  3. 3

Select it and join, entering the PIN if the server has one.

Common problems

No server in the list? Pavlov only shows servers with a valid key. Get one at pavlov-ms.vankrupt.com, paste it into the panel and restart.

mod.io maps go in the rotation as UGC plus the map's resource ID, for example MapRotation=(MapId="UGC1234567", GameMode="SND"). A missing UGC prefix stops the map loading.

Pavlov Shack on Quest and the PS VR2 version use their own servers. This server is for the PC VR version on Steam.

Keep Auto-update server on. After a Pavlov patch, clients on the new build cannot join an old server until it restarts and updates.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Modding your Pavlov VR server

Pavlov's custom maps and modes live on mod.io, from original competitive maps to ports of shooter classics. Servers list them by UGC ID in Game.ini and download them automatically as the rotation reaches them.

Pavlov VR server hosting, explained

Pavlov, formerly Pavlov VR, is a VR shooter from Vankrupt Games where you physically load magazines, rack slides, peek corners and throw grenades with your own hands. It is best known for its Counter-Strike style Search and Destroy, plus community favorites like Trouble in Terrorist Town, zombie waves, Prop Hunt, Gun Game and tank battles. The PC VR version left early access in December 2024 and community servers carry a big share of the play.

Your own server means your own map rotation, game modes and rules, and a lobby that does not vanish when a friend takes the headset off. VR groups use them for weekly TTT nights, clans run competitive SND with bCompetitive on, and some communities run nothing but custom maps from mod.io. A whitelist or numeric PIN keeps a friends only server private.

Our panel covers the RCON password and port, auto update, the beta branch and the API key Pavlov requires to list the server. Everything else is in Game.ini, which you edit in the file manager: ServerName, MaxPlayers, Password, bWhitelist, TickRate, TimeLimit, bEnableBots and your MapRotation lines. Moderators go in mods.txt, bans in blacklist.txt, and the live console shows maps downloading and players joining.

Pavlov servers download and load custom maps, so memory depends more on the rotation than on the player count. A private server for a VR group runs on 4 GB. A public 24 player server with a mod.io rotation is comfortable on 6 GB, and long rotations of big custom maps are safer on 8 GB. Sleep when empty can stop the server after 4 days with nobody on and wake it with one click.

Common questions

How many players can join a Pavlov server?

Set MaxPlayers in Game.ini. PC servers can technically go to 50, but the Pavlov wiki recommends no more than 24, and most modes play best at 10 to 20.

Why do I need an API key?

Pavlov requires a key to register the server with its master list, which is what puts it in the in-game browser. Paste the free key from Vankrupt into the panel.

How do I add custom maps?

Maps come from mod.io. Take the map's resource ID, put UGC in front of it, and add it as a MapRotation line in Game.ini with a game mode, then restart.

Which game modes can I run?

Valid modes include SND, TDM, DM, GUN, OITC, KOTH, TTT, TTTclassic, ZWV, WW2GUN, TANKTDM, HIDE, INFECTION, PUSH and PH. Set one per map in the rotation.

Can I control the server while in VR?

Yes, through RCON. Set the RCON password and port in the panel, then use an RCON tool to switch maps, kick and ban without taking the headset off.

How do I make the server private?

Set a numeric Password PIN in Game.ini, or turn on bWhitelist and list allowed players in whitelist.txt.

Can Quest players on Pavlov Shack join?

No. Pavlov Shack on Quest and the PS VR2 version have their own servers. This server is for the PC VR version on Steam.

Can bots fill empty slots?

Yes, in modes that support them. Set bEnableBots in Game.ini and bots fill the server up to MaxPlayers.

Is GamezServers affiliated with Pavlov VR?

No. You rent and control your own dedicated Pavlov VR server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
