The official resource pack is installed with the server: race, freeroam, play, admin panel and more.
Roleplay communities

How to join your Multi Theft Auto server
- 1
Install GTA San Andreas for PC (not the Definitive Edition).
- 2
Install the free Multi Theft Auto client and launch it.
- 3
Click Quick Connect on the main menu.
- 4
Enter
203.0.113.24and {port}, then connect. Enter the password from your server config if you set one.
Common problems
Make yourself admin: in the panel console run addaccount <name> <password>, add user.<name> to the Admin group in acl.xml, then /login in game.
If the server doesn't show in the browser, players can always use Quick Connect with the address. Add it to Favourites to keep it handy.
Players must run the original PC GTA San Andreas. The Definitive Edition does not work with MTA.
Change the slot count, server name and startup resources in mods/deathmatch/mtaserver.conf, then restart.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modding your Multi Theft Auto server
Everything on an MTA server is a Lua resource. The official resource pack ships with the server, and thousands more are on the MTA community site and GitHub.
Multi Theft Auto server hosting, explained
Multi Theft Auto is the long running multiplayer mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, built by a volunteer team and free to download. It is not made by Rockstar, and every player needs their own PC copy of the original San Andreas. What MTA adds is a full server and Lua scripting platform: servers turn the state into race tracks, deathmatch arenas, freeroam playgrounds or detailed roleplay cities with jobs, houses and police.
Everything interesting lives on the server. Game modes, maps and scripts are resources that you upload and start, and players download the client side parts automatically when they join. That is why MTA communities run their own boxes: a race league needs its map pack, a roleplay server needs its database and scripts, and both need to stay online when the people who built them are asleep.
The server installs with the official resource pack, so race, freeroam, play and the admin panel are ready from the start. Use the file manager or SFTP for your own resources and for mtaserver.conf, where you set the server name, password, slots and which resources load on boot. The live console takes server commands to start, stop and restart resources, and acl.xml controls who gets admin rights.
The MTA server itself is light. A race or deathmatch server with the default 32 slots runs on 2 GB. Roleplay servers with a database, many scripts and custom vehicles use more, so 4 GB is the usual pick. Big public servers with heavy custom content and over a hundred players at once should go to 8 GB. Plans can change any time, prorated, as your community grows.

Common questions
Do players need GTA San Andreas?
Yes. MTA is a free multiplayer mod, not a standalone game. Each player needs the original PC version of GTA San Andreas plus the MTA client. The Definitive Edition is not supported.
How many players can an MTA server hold?
The maxplayers setting in mtaserver.conf starts at 32 and can be raised much higher. Large roleplay servers run with hundreds of slots.
How do I install game modes and scripts?
Upload resources into mods/deathmatch/resources with SFTP or the file manager. Run refresh in the console, then start the resource or add it to mtaserver.conf so it loads on boot.
How do players connect?
From the MTA main menu, use Quick Connect and enter the server address and port. Players can also save it to their favourites.
How do I get admin rights?
Create an account with addaccount in the console, add it to the Admin group in acl.xml, then type /login with that name and password in game. The admin resource opens its panel with the P key.
Can I password my server?
Yes. Set the password field in mtaserver.conf and restart. Players are asked for it when they connect.
Where do I find more resources?
The MTA community resources site and GitHub host thousands of game modes, maps and scripts. Check that a resource suits MTA 1.6 before you upload it.
Is MTA still maintained?
Yes. The current version is MTA:SA 1.6, released in 2023 and updated with new builds since.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Multi Theft Auto?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Multi Theft Auto server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
