Crossplay without the setup traps

Listed where console players look

Xbox and PlayStation players cannot type an IP address. The only way in for them is the community server list, and a self hosted server never appears there without the right launch option. Your server is always in that list, so console friends choose Join Multiplayer Game, search for its name and connect.

Give it a name people can actually search for. Something unique beats Palworld Server, and you set it when you order.

Choose who can join

Crossplay platforms is a panel setting. Leave it at Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac for everyone, or list only the platforms you want, separated by commas: Steam alone for a PC group, or just Xbox and PS5 for a console crew.

Steam players can type the full address, port included, into the box at the bottom of the server list, or find the server in the community list like everyone else.

Everyone on the same version

Crossplay only works when the server and every player run the same game version, and console patches can land at a different time than the Steam one. The server updates itself every time it starts. After a patch, restart it from the panel and have everyone update through their store, and if one platform has not received the patch yet, they wait for it to arrive.

Your world is backed up before every game update, so a rough patch never costs your bases.

Sized for a mixed group

Crossplay groups tend to be bigger, because nobody is left out for owning the wrong console. Standard gives you 16 GB of RAM and up to 16 players for 39.99 USD a month, the size Pocketpair recommends for a dedicated server. Everyone shares the same slots whatever they play on, and Pro takes you to 24 GB and the full 32.

Split the bill so the PC players and console players each pay their own share from a link.

How to join your Palworld server

  1. 1

Launch Palworld and choose Join Multiplayer Game from the title screen.

  2. 2

Type 203.0.113.24:8211 into the box at the bottom of the server list.

  3. 3

Click Connect and enter the password if you set one.

  4. 4

Xbox and PlayStation players cannot type an address. Your server is always in the community server list, so they search for its name there instead.

Common problems

Include the port

Type the whole address, including the colon and the number after it.

Version mismatch

The server updates itself every time it starts. After a Palworld patch, restart the server and update the game on every device.

Settings went back

Settings from the panel are written into PalWorldSettings.ini on every start. Change those in the panel, and stop the server before editing anything else in the file.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Common questions

Can Xbox and PS5 players join my Palworld server?

Yes. Since 1.0, Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac players can join the same server. Console players search for its name in the community server list.

Why can my console friends not type the address?

Palworld on console has no address box. They choose Join Multiplayer Game, open the community server list and search for your server name.

Can I block a platform?

Yes. Edit Crossplay platforms in the panel and list only the platforms you want, separated by commas, such as Steam or Xbox,PS5.

My friend gets a version mismatch. What now?

The server and every player must be on the same version. Restart the server so it updates, and have everyone update through their store. Console patches can arrive at a different time.

Do console players use up separate slots?

No. Everyone shares the same slots: up to 8 on Starter, 16 on Standard and 32 on Pro.

Can I keep a crossplay server private?

Yes. Set a Join password. The server stays in the community list so console friends can find it, but only people with the password can join.

How many players can join?

Up to 32. Pocketpair recommends 16 GB, and big late game bases feel best on 24 GB.

Can I move my co-op world over?

Yes, with a little work. Stop the server, upload your world folder into Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/ and set DedicatedServerName in GameUserSettings.ini to that folder name. The host of the co-op game gets a new character on a server, and a community save tool can move the old one over. Take a backup first.

Does Palworld crossplay work on a dedicated server?

Yes. Since 1.0, Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac players can join the same server. Console players cannot enter an IP, so the server needs to be listed in the community server list for them.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
