Built for modpack nights
Pick the loader, skip the installer
Running a modded server at home means downloading the right installer, matching a Java version and editing user_jvm_args.txt until it starts. Here you choose the server type in Settings, set the Minecraft version to the one your pack uses, and click Update game.
Packs that are picky about their loader build get their own boxes: put the exact number in Exact Forge version or Exact NeoForge version and that build is installed. New servers run Java 25, which suits recent releases. If an older pack needs Java 17 or 8, email support with the pack name and we move your server to the Java it needs.
CurseForge and Modrinth packs in one upload
Download the pack's server pack from its Files page, stop the server, and click Show SFTP login to connect with FileZilla or WinSCP. Upload mods and config, plus defaultconfigs, kubejs or scripts if the pack has them. Skip the pack's start scripts and libraries folder, because the server type already handles that.
Modrinth .mrpack packs work the same way: same loader, same versions, upload the overrides and the mods. A modpack is hundreds of files, which is why SFTP and full file access come with every plan.
RAM sized for real modpacks, not for Paper
Every mod loads its blocks, items and recipes before anyone joins, so modpacks need memory that vanilla never touches. Our player slots assume Paper. On a big pack, plan for far fewer players per gigabyte.
Pro gives you 8 GB for 19.99 USD a month, which is what we suggest for a kitchen sink pack like All the Mods 10 with a small group of up to 15 players. A light pack under about 100 mods wants 6 GB, so Pro is the fit there too. A heavy pack with 10 or more players belongs on Elite with 12 GB. Move between plans from your dashboard and the world comes with you.
Pack updates without losing the world
Your world is backed up before every game update and before every server type switch, and the Backup button keeps up to three of your own. When a new pack version lands, back up, set the new loader version if it changed, click Update game, then delete the old mods folder and upload the new one so removed mods do not linger.
Everyone then updates their client to the same pack version. A single mod out of step is enough to block joining, so update together and keep one version in your group chat.

What comes set up on a Minecraft server
Forge, NeoForge and Fabric
Switch loaders from Settings and the right server is installed for the version you pick.
CurseForge and Modrinth packs
Upload a server pack's mods and config folders and start playing.
SFTP for big packs
Hundreds of mod files go up far faster over SFTP than through a browser.
8 and 12 GB plans
Pro and Elite give heavy packs the memory they use before anyone joins.
Backups before updates
Every game update and loader switch is backed up first, so a bad mod never costs a world.

How to join your Minecraft server
- 1
Open Minecraft: Java Edition on the same version as your server.
- 2
Click Multiplayer, then Add Server.
- 3
Paste
203.0.113.24:25565as the Server Address, including the port, and click Done. - 4
Double click the server in your list to join. Send the same address to your friends.
Common problems
Include the port
Paste the whole address, including the colon and the number after it. Without the port Minecraft looks in the wrong place and says it cannot connect.
"Outdated client" or "Outdated server"
Your game and the server are on different versions. Ask the owner which version the server runs, then in the Minecraft Launcher open Installations, click New installation, pick that version and play it.
Playing on phone, console or Bedrock?
Only Minecraft: Java Edition on PC and Mac can join a Java server. Bedrock players need the owner to install Geyser first.
Commands say you do not have permission
Commands like /gamemode only work for operators. The owner can make you one with Make operator in the dashboard.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Common questions
Should I pick Forge, NeoForge or Fabric?
Whatever loader your pack page names, on the exact version it names. Most big new packs on 1.21.1 and later use NeoForge, older packs on 1.20.1 and earlier often use Forge, and Fabric suits performance mods and lighter mod lists.
How much RAM do I need for All the Mods 10?
Plan on 8 GB for a small group and 12 GB if you expect 10 or more players. Big NeoForge packs use several GB just to start.
My pack is for an old Minecraft version. Will it run?
Set the Minecraft version and loader build in Settings and click Update game. New servers run Java 25, so if your pack was built for Java 17 or 8, email support with the pack name and we move the server to the Java it needs.
Do my friends need to install the modpack?
Yes. Every player installs the same pack, at the exact same version as the server, in the CurseForge app or a launcher that supports CurseForge packs. Big packs want 6 to 8 GB of memory on their own PC too.
Can I add my own mods to a modpack server?
Yes. Server side mods only go on the server, while anything that adds blocks or items must go on every player's client as well. Back up first and add one mod at a time.
Can I bring the modded world I started in singleplayer?
Yes. Upload the world folder from your instance's saves folder and set level-name in server.properties to its name. The server must run the same pack version as the world.
Can Bedrock players join a modded server?
Not in a useful way. Geyser translates vanilla content, so modded blocks, items and mobs do not show for Bedrock players. Keep crossplay worlds on Paper.
Can I run mods and modpacks?
Yes. Choose Fabric, Forge or NeoForge on the Minecraft version your mods need, then upload them to the mods folder. Bigger modpacks run best on 8 GB or more.
Does Bedrock work?
This plan runs Java Edition. Bedrock players can join through Geyser if you add it.
Can I upload my existing world?
Yes. Upload your world folder and it loads on the next start.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
