To host a Path of Titans server, get a hosting token from your Alderon Games account at alderongames.com/oauth/hosting-token, download the server with AlderonGamesCmd, generate a unique server GUID, and launch PathOfTitansServer with -AuthToken, -ServerGUID, -Port=7777 and -BranchKey=production. Settings live in Game.ini, mods in GameUserSettings.ini, and admins are added by Alderon Games ID (AGID). The server is crossplay with every platform.

What do you need to host a Path of Titans server?

Path of Titans community servers are not on Steam. Everything goes through Alderon Games, the developer:

  • An Alderon Games account that owns the game. You use it to create the hosting token.
  • A hosting token. Sign in at alderongames.com/oauth/hosting-token. One token can run up to 100 servers, according to the developer's hosting wiki.
  • A unique GUID per server. A UUIDv4, generated with any online UUID generator. Never reuse one across servers or they clash in the server list.
  • A machine with enough RAM and open ports (below).

Running a community server also means agreeing to Alderon's server hosting agreement, which covers things like donations and monetization, so read it before you take money from players.

Server size RAM Notes
Private server for friends 8 GB One map, few mods
Public server around 100 players 12 GB The usual community size
150 to 200 players or several big mods 16 GB Large maps and mod content add up

How do I download and start the server?

  1. Download AlderonGamesCmd for your OS from Alderon.
  2. Install the server files:
AlderonGamesCmd-Win64.exe --game path-of-titans --server true --beta-branch production --auth-token YOUR_TOKEN --install-dir C:\PoTServer
  1. Generate a GUID, for example 3f2b8c1e-7a4d-4e9b-9c2f-1d5e6a7b8c9d.
  2. Start the server:
PathOfTitansServer-Win64-Shipping.exe -Port=7777 -AuthToken=YOUR_TOKEN -ServerGUID=YOUR_GUID -BranchKey=production -Database=Local -log

On Windows the command line has a length limit, so the hosting wiki suggests putting the token in the AG_AUTH_TOKEN environment variable instead. Use demo-public-test instead of production for both the download and -BranchKey if you want the public test build, but players must be on the same branch to join.

The full parameter list is on the Path of Titans hosting wiki.

What ports does a Path of Titans server use?

The game port is 7777 UDP by default, set with -Port. The server also uses the TCP ports just above it (common setups open 7778 and 7780 TCP), and RCON uses whatever you set with -RconPort. If you move the game port, the related ports move with it, so keep a clean block per server.

Port Protocol Purpose
7777 UDP Game traffic
7778 TCP Server services
7780 TCP Server services
Your -RconPort TCP RCON, only if you enable it

If your server does not show in the list, closed ports or a bad token are almost always the reason. Our port forwarding guide covers router rules.

How do I configure Game.ini?

Run the server once so it creates its config files, then stop it. Game.ini lives at:

PathOfTitans/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.ini
PathOfTitans/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini

A simple starting point:

[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
ServerName=My_Herd_Server
MaxPlayers=100
ServerPassword=
ServerMap=Panjura
ServerDiscord=yourinvite
ServerAdmins=048-236-424
bEnforceWhitelist=false
bServerGrowth=true

[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameMode]
bServerDynamicTimeOfDay=true
ServerDayLength=60

Key settings worth knowing:

Key What it does
ServerMap Panjura is the default. Island loads Gondwa
MaxPlayers Player cap
ServerPassword Join password, blank for public
ServerDayLength Day length in minutes, 60 by default (game mode section)
bServerGrowth Lets dinosaurs grow over time. false spawns everyone as an adult
AllowedCharacters, DisallowedCharacters Limit which species can be played (see the hosting wiki for the exact format)

Save, then restart the server for changes to apply.

How do I add admins on a Path of Titans server?

Admins are identified by their Alderon Games ID (AGID), shown in game in the format ###-###-###. Stop the server and add one line per admin under the game session section:

[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
ServerAdmins=048-236-424
ServerAdmins=123-456-789

You can also promote someone live with the chat command /promote <user> <role>. Admin roles and their permissions are described on the hosting wiki's server admins page.

How do I set a password or whitelist?

For a password, set ServerPassword in Game.ini. For a whitelist, create whitelist.txt in the Saved folder with one AGID per line, and set bEnforceWhitelist=true. The whitelist takes effect as soon as an ID is in the file.

How do I add mods to a Path of Titans server?

Mods are added by ID in GameUserSettings.ini (same folder as Game.ini). Find the Mod ID in the in game Mod Browser, then:

[PathOfTitans.Mods]
EnabledMods="UGC_M_DYV7XYEGX2_SK"
EnabledMods="UGC_M_DYV0XMY7GX_SK"

Restart and the server downloads them. A modded map also needs ServerMap=MapName in Game.ini, or the server falls back to Panjura. Check platform support for each mod: many map mods do not run on mobile, so one mod can lock part of your crossplay community out.

Local or remote database?

-Database=Local keeps player progress on the server itself and is right for a single server. -Database=Remote lets several servers share character progress, but you have to run and manage that database yourself. Start local unless you are building a network.

FAQ

Is a Path of Titans server crossplay?

Yes. PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, iOS and Android players can all join the same community server, as long as your mods support their platform.

Where do I get a Path of Titans hosting token?

Sign in at alderongames.com/oauth/hosting-token with the Alderon account that owns the game. The token both downloads the server and registers it in the list.

Why is my Path of Titans server not in the server list?

Check that the auth token is valid, the GUID is unique and the game ports are open. After a game update, also make sure the server updated to the same version as players.

Which maps can a Path of Titans server run?

Panjura is the default, Island loads Gondwa, and Riparia is another official map. Modded maps work through EnabledMods plus ServerMap.

How do I find my Alderon Games ID?

It is shown on your Alderon Games account and in game, in the format 123-456-789. Admin and whitelist entries use this ID, not a display name.

The easy option: host it with us

If you would rather not manage AlderonGamesCmd, GUIDs and ports, you can rent a Path of Titans server and paste your hosting token into the panel.
