DayZ Badlands Release Date and Update 1.30 (What Servers Need)

DayZ Badlands is planned to release on 15 October 2026 on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, as Bohemia Interactive confirmed in a Steam announcement on 27 August 2026. It adds Nasdara, a 267 square kilometre desert map, and arrives with update 1.30, which brings motorbikes, inventory UI changes and animation changes that can break mods.

When does DayZ Badlands come out?

Badlands is planned for Thursday 15 October 2026. The date was revealed with a trailer at Gamescom 2026, reported by Shacknews on 27 August 2026, and confirmed in Bohemia's Steam announcement the same day. Bohemia later repeated that Badlands is coming to all platforms on 15 October.

Until launch day, treat the date as planned. Release times on the day are usually announced on DayZ's official channels shortly before.

What is in DayZ Badlands?

Badlands is a paid expansion, sold as DLC on top of the base game, in the same way as Livonia and Frostline. According to the DayZ Wiki's Badlands page, which sources the Steam store and Bohemia's dev blogs, it includes:

• Nasdara Province, a 267 km² desert map in western Takistan and the largest official DayZ map. Chernarus is about 225 km² for comparison.
• Middle Eastern architecture, cities, abandoned Soviet bases and oil infrastructure.
• New clothing, wildlife, weapons and regional infected.
• Repairable structures such as buildings and wells.
• Heat and sun as a survival pressure, the opposite of Frostline's cold.

Motorbikes arrive with the 1.30 game update itself, and the wiki lists them as coming to all maps rather than only Nasdara.

Will DayZ wipe for Badlands?

Official servers are expected to wipe. Guided.news reported on 16 September 2026 that characters and maps wipe at the start of Experimental and again when Badlands launches on 15 October. That applies to official servers.

Community servers are different: you decide. A stable game update does not force your persistence files to reset. How was update 1.29 different?

Update 1.29 reached Stable on PC, Xbox and PlayStation on 8 April 2026, as Shacknews reported. It was billed as the start of the "Road to Badlands": it reworked automatic rifle and pistol sounds, buffed crafted and blunt melee damage, adjusted spawn points, added terrain texture blending and server performance work, and added Frostline content such as a new section of the Burukan bunker. Several follow up builds landed over the summer. 1.30 is the bigger jump because it carries the Badlands content and the animation changes.

Do players need Badlands to join my server?

Only for Nasdara. Players need to own Badlands to play on a Nasdara server, just as Livonia and Sakhal need their DLC. Chernarus and any non DLC map stay open to everyone, and everyone gets the 1.30 update and its motorbikes for free.

If your community has a mix of owners and non owners, consider running Chernarus or Livonia as your main server and adding Nasdara as a second server once people have bought it.

What this means for your server

1. Expect a version change on 15 October. When 1.30 hits Stable, every client updates. A server that has not updated rejects players with a version error. See our Bad Version fix.
2. Check every mod. The animation system changes can break animation and weapon mods, and frameworks such as Community Framework and DayZ Expansion often need an update after a big patch. Remove mods that have not been updated rather than letting the server crash.
3. Update your mission files. New items and vehicles need entries in types.xml and related files before they spawn on custom missions. Compare your mission with the updated vanilla one and merge the changes. Our types.xml guide explains the format.
4. Take a backup of the mission folder and storage_1 before updating, so you can roll back if a mod fails.
5. Plan memory for Nasdara. At 267 km² it is the biggest official map. Modded Chernarus already wants 12 GB, so a busy Nasdara server is safest on 16 GB.
6. Find the new mission name. Nasdara will have its own folder in mpmissions. Bohemia has not published the folder name ahead of launch, so check the updated server files on release day before changing your template line.
