What comes set up on a Zombie Survival Game Online server

Bases stay standing

Your walls, gates and stash survive between sessions, so the group can pick up the next night where it left off.

From 4 to 32 survivors

Start with a tight squad of 4 and raise Max Players up to 32 when the community grows.

Your world settings

Tune loot, zombies and other rules in DediWorldSettings.json, or pick the Armory sandbox map for a creative night.

Anti cheat and GSLT

Keep anti cheat on for public servers and add a Steam login token so the server lists properly on Steam.

How to join your Zombie Survival Game Online server

  1. 1

Launch Zombie Survival Game Online and open the multiplayer server browser from the main menu.

  2. 2

Search for your server name and join it.

  3. 3

Enter the password from your panel if the server has one.

  4. 4

Your character and progress save on the server, so next time you pick up where you left off.

Common problems

New servers start with Server Password set to NoConfiguredPassword, which means no password. Replace it with your own to lock the server, and put it back to open it again.

After a game update, restart the server so Auto Update pulls the new build. Players on a newer version cannot join an old server.

Server Name and World Name need at least 5 characters, and the password only takes letters, numbers, dashes and underscores.

Not showing in the server list? Check Advertise Server is on and LAN is off, then give the list a few minutes.

Server not responding

Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.

Use the server address

Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.

No port forwarding or firewall changes

Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.

Zombie Survival Game Online server hosting, explained

Zombie Survival Game Online, or ZSGO, is an Early Access open world zombie survival game from a four person indie studio. You scavenge a hand built 4 by 4 kilometer map, craft and build a fortified base, drive vehicles from farm trucks to an RV, explore sewers and caves and fight zombies, brutes and mutants. It has been in Early Access since December 2023 and updates arrive every few weeks, with the Mutant Boss update in July 2026.

Players run servers for a few reasons. Friend groups want a co-op world that keeps their base and loot when the host logs off. Others run PvP servers where raiding is part of the game. Some use the Armory sandbox map for a creative night with every vehicle and weapon. The game has an in game admin menu for server staff, which helps once a public server gets busy.

In the panel you set the server name, world name, password, max players (4 by default, up to 32), map, anti cheat, LAN mode, whether the server is advertised, and a Steam Game Server Login Token. Loot, zombie and other world rules go in DediWorldSettings.json under ZSGO/Saved/WorldSettings, which you edit in the file manager. Auto Update keeps the server on the current Early Access build.

ZSGO runs on Unreal Engine and keeps zombies and AI active across the map for everyone online, so it wants a fair amount of memory. A squad of four is comfortable on 6 GB. A server with 10 to 20 players should use 8 GB, and a busy server close to 32 players wants 12 GB or more. Change plans at any time as the server grows.

Common questions

How many players can a ZSGO server hold?

Up to 32. We start at 4 and you can set Max Players anywhere from 1 to 32 in the panel.

How do I remove the password from my server?

Set Server Password to NoConfiguredPassword in the panel and restart. The game treats that exact value as no password.

What is the GSLT setting for?

A Game Server Login Token lets your server register with Steam. Create one on Steam's game server account page, paste it into GSLT Token and turn on Use GSLT.

How do I change loot or zombie settings?

Create or edit DediWorldSettings.json in ZSGO/Saved/WorldSettings with the file manager, then restart. The panel covers server level options like map, players and anti cheat.

Can I run PvP or co-op only?

The game supports both co-op and PvP. Set the rules in your world settings, and set a password if you want the server to stay with your group.

Should I leave anti cheat on?

For public servers, yes. On a private server with friends you can turn it off if it causes trouble, but it is safer left on.

Does ZSGO have mods?

No. There is no mod support for servers, so you run the game as the developers ship it and customize it through the world settings.

Do I need to own ZSGO to run a server?

No. The dedicated server is a free tool that we install for you. Every player needs their own copy of the game on Steam.

Is GamezServers affiliated with Zombie Survival Game Online?

No. You rent and control your own dedicated Zombie Survival Game Online server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.

Can my friends and I split the cost?

Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.

Can I build a custom plan?

Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.

Can I pay once instead of a subscription?

Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.

How fast is setup, really?

Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
