What comes set up on a RageCOOP server
Story mode, together
Share the single player world with friends: synced players, vehicles, NPCs and bullets, without GTA Online's rules.
Plays well with mods
Because it runs in story mode, RageCOOP works alongside other single player mods, which is what a private modded server is for.
Server resources
Add .respkg resource packages for game modes, admin tools and logins, uploaded to the server over SFTP.
Pick the build
Set Version to latest, nightly or a release number in the panel, so the server matches the client your group installed.
How much RAM does a RageCOOP server need?
Find the row that sounds like your group and we will point you at the right plan.
| Your server | RAM | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Co-op story mode for a few friends | 1 GB | Starter$2.99/mo |
| Group of up to 32 with a few resources | 2 GB | Standard$4.99/mo |
| Bigger group with several scripted resources | 4 GB | Pro$9.99/mo |

Common problems
Client and server versions must match. If your group installed a nightly client, set Version in the panel to nightly and reinstall, or install the matching release client.
Want the server in the public list? Set AnnounceSelf to true in Settings.xml and point MasterServer at https://masterserver.ragecoop.com/, since the old .online address no longer answers.
RageCOOP has no built in server password. To keep strangers out, install the Management resource and set AllowGuest to false, so only registered users can join.
Players crashing on load usually have ScriptHookV out of date after a GTA V patch. Update ScriptHookV and ScriptHookVDotNet before blaming the server.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modding your RageCOOP server
RageCOOP has a scripting API and resource system for server and client resources, and players can keep using their usual single player mods on top.
RageCOOP server hosting, explained
RageCOOP is an open source mod that adds co-op to Grand Theft Auto V's story mode on PC. It is a community project with no connection to Rockstar Games or Take-Two, and every player needs their own copy of GTA V plus ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet and the RageCOOP client. Once in, you share the single player world: run missions together, cruise across the state, set up your own events or just mess around in Grove Street.
Because it runs on story mode, RageCOOP plays nicely with other single player mods, and a private modded server for a group of friends is exactly what it is for. A dedicated server keeps that world reachable without anyone hosting from home or forwarding ports. The project is small and its last numbered release came out in late 2023, with nightly builds since, so it suits groups happy to tinker a little.
Our panel lets you pick the RageCOOP Version, latest, nightly or a release number, so it matches your players' client. Settings.xml in the file manager holds the server name, max players, welcome message, announce setting and more, and .respkg resources upload over SFTP. The live console shows players joining and lets you run resource commands such as registering users when the Management resource is installed.
The server mostly relays positions, vehicles and bullets between players, so it is light. A few friends fit on 1 GB, a full 32 player server with a few resources on 2 GB, and 4 GB only matters for larger groups running several scripted resources. Players' own mods run on their PCs and do not change what the server needs. Sleep when empty stops it after 4 days with nobody on.

Common questions
What do players need to join a RageCOOP server?
A PC copy of GTA V, ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet 3.6.0 or later, the .NET Framework 4.8 runtime and the RageCOOP client installed with its installer.
How many players can a RageCOOP server hold?
The default is 32, set with MaxPlayers in Settings.xml. Story mode co-op is usually played in much smaller groups.
Is RageCOOP made by Rockstar?
No. It is an independent open source mod with no connection to Rockstar Games or Take-Two.
Can I get banned for using RageCOOP?
RageCOOP runs in story mode, not GTA Online, which is why the project says you can use mods with it freely. Keep mods out of GTA Online sessions.
Can I set a server password?
Not directly. Install the Management resource, register your users with the console commands, and set AllowGuest to false so only registered players can join.
Why will my client not connect?
Usually a version mismatch. Set Version in the panel to the same RageCOOP build your group installed, latest or nightly, and restart.
Does RageCOOP work with GTA V Enhanced?
RageCOOP was built before the Enhanced edition existed and relies on ScriptHookV. The Legacy edition is the safe choice for your group.
Can we use other mods with RageCOOP?
Yes. It is built to work alongside single player mods. Mods that change the world should match across players to avoid odd desyncs.
Is GamezServers affiliated with RageCOOP?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated RageCOOP server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
