What comes set up on a Operation: Harsh Doorstop server
Squad sized PvP
Servers hold 32 players, enough for proper squads on each side without the chaos of a 100 player server.
Workshop mods via SFTP
Upload Workshop map, faction and weapon mod folders into HarshDoorstop/Mods, so your community plays the content it chose.
RCON ready
RCON is enabled with a generated password, its own port, and limits on login attempts and open connections, all in the panel.
Updates on restart
Auto update pulls the latest server build every time it starts, so a game patch never leaves your players unable to join.

Common problems
Players do not download mods from the server. Everyone must subscribe to the same Workshop items, then restart the game, or they get kicked or see missing content.
Each mod goes in its own folder under HarshDoorstop/Mods. Copy the folder inside the Workshop ID directory, not the ID folder itself.
The server boots into the stock AAS test map. Loading a modded map or faction at start needs its own launch options, so email support@gamezservers.com if you want a different boot map.
Server missing from the list right after an update? Leave Auto update on, restart from the panel and give the browser a minute or two to refresh.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Modding your Operation: Harsh Doorstop server
Harsh Doorstop was built for modders, and the Steam Workshop is full of maps, factions, weapons, vehicles and modes. Servers load mod folders uploaded to HarshDoorstop/Mods, and players subscribe to the same items.
Operation: Harsh Doorstop server hosting, explained
Operation: Harsh Doorstop is a free to play tactical shooter sandbox on Unreal Engine, made by developers from the cancelled Project Reality 2. It plays in the spirit of Squad and Arma: squads, objectives, slow careful movement and a lot of talking. What sets it apart is modding. The Steam Workshop holds thousands of community maps, factions, weapons and vehicles, from Vietnam and World War II to Mogadishu and an alien bug hunt.
Because the game is free, getting a whole group in costs nothing, and community servers are where the modded side really lives. A dedicated server keeps your content consistent, so your squad always knows what to subscribe to and the rules stay the same week to week. Clans run their own event nights, milsim groups build around a faction pack, and friend groups keep a server for casual PvP and co-op against bots.
Our panel covers the server name, auto update, and the RCON password, port, attempt limit and connection limit. Mod folders upload through the file manager or SFTP into HarshDoorstop/Mods, and the live console shows the server loading them. One click backups help before you swap a large mod set. Share a Workshop collection link with your players, since the game does not hand mods to clients when they join.
Unreal Engine shooters need more memory than older games, and every Workshop map and weapon pack adds to it. A small mostly vanilla server runs on 6 GB, and a full 32 player server with a few mods is comfortable on 8 GB. Large modded maps with many vehicles and factions are better on 12 GB. You can change plans at any time if your mod list grows.

Common questions
How many players can a Harsh Doorstop server hold?
Our servers hold 32 players, the common server size for squads on both sides.
Do players get Workshop mods automatically?
No. Players need to subscribe to the same Workshop items the server uses and restart the game. Sharing a Workshop collection is the easiest way.
How do I add mods to the server?
Download the Workshop item, take the mod folder from inside its Workshop ID directory, and upload it to HarshDoorstop/Mods with SFTP or the file manager.
Is Operation: Harsh Doorstop free?
Yes, the game is free to play on Steam. The dedicated server is installed and updated for you.
How do I find my server in game?
Open the Multiplayer tab and search for your server name in the list. New servers can take a minute or two to appear.
How do I manage the server remotely?
Use RCON with the password and RCON port shown in the panel, or the live console in the panel itself.
Does the server update itself?
Yes. With Auto update on, it checks for a new build every time it starts, so restart after a game patch.
Can we play co-op against bots?
The game includes co-op against AI, and many community mods add their own modes. What runs depends on the map and mode the server loads.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Operation: Harsh Doorstop?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Operation: Harsh Doorstop server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
