What comes set up on a Astroneer server
Up to 8 astroneers
The dedicated server holds the game's full crew of 8, each free to drive off to a different planet.
World without a host
Bases, rovers and production lines stay put, so anyone can log in and keep building without the save owner.
You are the owner
Put your Steam name in the panel and you get owner rights when you join: kick, ban, whitelist and save from in game.
Bring your save
Upload an existing save over SFTP or the file manager and carry on from where your single player run left off.

Common problems
If the server does not appear after you add it, start and leave a single player game once, then open Server List again. The list sometimes only refreshes after that.
Owner rights go to the exact Steam name in Your Steam name. If you change your Steam name later, update the setting and restart.
Joining fails after an Astroneer patch until the server updates. Keep Automatic Updates on and restart the server.
Server not responding
Make sure the server is online. Servers sleep after 4 days with nobody playing, and anyone with access can start them again from the dashboard in one click.
Use the server address
Do not use localhost, 127.0.0.1 or your own IP from a home hosting guide. Copy the exact address of the server.
No port forwarding or firewall changes
Opening ports on your router is only for hosting a server at home, so there is nothing to change to join this one. If Windows asks whether to let the game through the firewall, choose Allow.
Astroneer server hosting, explained
Astroneer is about landing on alien planets, reshaping the ground with a terrain tool and building bases, rovers and production lines out of what you dig up. It is cooperative from start to finish, with up to 8 players on a dedicated server. Groups split jobs on their own: someone runs the smelters, someone drives out for scrap, and somebody falls into the cave they just dug. Updates have added automation, a large set of missions and more planets to explore.
Without a dedicated server the world belongs to whoever hosted it and closes when they leave. A dedicated server keeps one shared save running so anyone in the crew can log in and keep building. It is the usual choice for friend groups on different schedules and for anyone who wants a long running world with big automated bases that grow week by week.
The panel sets the server name, password, automatic updates and the owner by Steam name, with an optional Steam ID. We fill in the public IP the game needs to register the server, so you do not have to. The owner can kick, ban, whitelist and save from inside the game. Save files are in the server's files, so you can upload an existing world or keep copies of yours with one click backups.
Astroneer is light at the start, but memory climbs as bases grow and automation chains get longer, and old saves with lots of terrain changes weigh more than fresh ones. A few friends on a new world run fine on 4 GB. A full crew of 8 is comfortable on 6 GB, and long running saves with large automated bases want 8 GB.

Common questions
How many players can join an Astroneer dedicated server?
Eight. That is a hard cap set by the game.
How do I become the server owner?
Put your exact Steam name in Your Steam name in the panel, then join. The server gives you owner controls when you connect.
Do I need to set the public IP?
No. We fill it in for you, which is what lets the server register and accept players.
Can Xbox players join?
PC players on Steam and the Microsoft Store can join. Xbox consoles only connect to servers run by Astroneer's official hosting partners, so plan this server around PC players.
Can I upload my existing save?
Yes. Stop the server, upload the save file into the server's save folder over SFTP or the file manager, and start it again. Back up first.
How do I keep strangers out?
Set a server password in the panel. The owner can also whitelist players from inside the game.
Why can't my friends see the server?
Dedicated servers do not show in a public browser. Each player adds it once with Add Dedicated Server and the address from your panel, then it stays in their favorites.
How much RAM does an Astroneer server need?
4 GB for a few friends on a new world, 6 GB for a full crew of 8, and 8 GB for long running saves with big automated bases.
Is GamezServers affiliated with Astroneer?
No. You rent and control your own dedicated Astroneer server. GamezServers is not affiliated with the game's developer or publisher.
Can my friends and I split the cost?
Yes. At checkout choose "Me and my friends" and up to 10 people each pay their own share with their own card, on any plan length, from 3 days to a year. It is not a payment plan: nobody pays in parts over time, each friend simply pays their own share. You pay yours, send each friend their link, and the server starts straight away. Each share includes a $1 payment fee.
Can I build a custom plan?
Yes. Every game has a Build your own page: pick any amount of RAM up to 32 GB, any length from 3 days to 1 year, prepaid or a subscription, plus your server type and settings. A custom size costs 15% more per GB than the standard plans next to it.
Can I pay once instead of a subscription?
Yes. Pick Prepaid and pay once for 3 days, 30 days, 6 months or a year. Nothing renews: when the time is up the server pauses and keeps its world for 14 days. Add time or switch to a subscription from your panel any time. Short rentals cost more per day, since every server is set up from scratch.
How fast is setup, really?
Your server starts building the moment Stripe confirms payment. Most are online in under a minute, and the address and login appear on your dashboard automatically.
