Wreckfest 2 Server Config Files Explained (scnf, becl, ccnl, sprv)
What each Wreckfest 2 dedicated server file does: server_config.scnf, .becl event loops, server_cup_config.ccnl cups and server_privilege.sprv admins and bans.

A Wreckfest 2 dedicated server keeps all its settings as JSON files in its save folder. server_config.scnf holds the server name, password, game port and which event loop and cups to run. .becl files are event loops: the list of tracks, modes, weather and rules the server cycles through. server_cup_config.ccnl defines cups with your own points tables. server_privilege.sprv stores admin roles and bans. Edit them while the server is stopped and restart to apply.
Where the files live
Everything sits in the folder passed with --save-dir when the server starts. Without that option, the server uses %LocalAppData%\Wreckfest 2\. A typical folder:
save/
server_config.scnf
default_loop.becl
server_cup_config.ccnl
server_privilege.sprv
Wreckfest 2 is in Early Access, so file layouts can change between builds. Bugbear ships a server config guide PDF with the game files; check it after major updates, and back up your folder before every update.
Rule one: valid JSON
All four files are JSON. One missing comma between events, or a trailing comma after the last one, and the server refuses the file or falls back to defaults. Paste your edits into a JSON validator before saving. Use a plain text editor, not a word processor, so quotes stay straight.
server_config.scnf
The main config has two blocks.
net server config
"net server config": [
{
"name": "Wreckfest 2 Club Night",
"description": "Welcome to my server!",
"password": "",
"log file name": "../server.log",
"game port": 30100
}
]
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
name |
Name in the server browser, up to 63 characters |
description |
Text shown with your server |
password |
Join password, blank for public, up to 31 characters |
log file name |
Where the server writes its log |
game port |
UDP port players connect to, 30100 by default |
game server config
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
event loop name |
Which .becl file to run, without the extension, for example default_loop |
cup list |
Cups to run, defined in the cup config |
countdown time |
Countdown before an event, in milliseconds |
voting time |
How long players get to vote, in milliseconds |
flags |
Extra server flags |
auto ban report limits |
How many player reports trigger a censor, silence or suspend |
server ban durations, admin ban durations, default ban durations |
Length of each ban type, in minutes |
The defaults are a censor and silence of 1440 minutes (one day) and a suspend of 525600 minutes (one year). Public servers sometimes shorten the automatic suspend so a wave of false reports cannot lock a regular out for a year.

.becl event loops
An event loop file contains an "events" array. Each event has a "level" part, which picks the track (level id), weather, AI set and game mode, and a "rules" part with settings like laps, time limit, number of teams, max participants, flags, car reset delay and vehicle damage.
How to work with them:
- Copy, do not edit, the default. Duplicate
default_loop.beclasclub_night.becland edit the copy. - Copy whole events. Duplicate an existing event block and change its track and rules. That keeps every required key in place with the right paths.
- Point the config at it. Set
"event loop name": "club_night"inserver_config.scnf. - Restart and watch the log. If the server ignores the loop, the JSON is broken somewhere.
The total of drivers and bots per event is capped at 24 by the game. If real players cannot get in, reduce the bots in that event's rules.
When an admin changes the track by hand in game, the rotation stops. Restart the server, or reload the event loop, to set it cycling again.
server_cup_config.ccnl
Cups chain events into a championship with points. In the cup config you define each cup's points per finishing position, the start order rules and a bonus for best lap, and each cup can use its own event loop. Then name the cup in "cup list" in server_config.scnf. League nights use this to run the same points system every week without anyone keeping a spreadsheet.
server_privilege.sprv
This file stores roles and bans. You normally do not hand edit it: assign roles from the server console with a command of the form:
role 76561198000000001,admin
using the player's SteamID64. Type help in the server console for the current list of commands and role names, since Early Access builds have changed them before. Bans issued by admins and by the automatic report limits are written here too. To lift a ban, use the console or remove the entry with the server stopped.
Safe editing routine
- Stop the server.
- Back up the whole save folder.
- Edit one file at a time and validate the JSON.
- Start the server and read the start of the log.
- Join and check the change took effect.

If the server stops showing up or refuses connections after an edit, the Wreckfest 2 connection fixes walk through the checks in order.
On a hosted server
On a GamezServers Wreckfest 2 server, the save folder is in the file manager, so you can edit loops, cups and privileges in the browser or over SFTP. Server Name and Password are set in the control panel, which writes them into server_config.scnf on every start, so changing them in the file has no lasting effect. Auto Update keeps the server on the newest Early Access build, and a one click backup before a patch protects your loops and cups. Install basics are in how to host a Wreckfest 2 server.
FAQ
Where is the Wreckfest 2 server config?
In the folder passed with --save-dir, as server_config.scnf. Without that option it is under %LocalAppData%\Wreckfest 2\.
How do I change the track rotation in Wreckfest 2?
Edit a copy of default_loop.becl, then set "event loop name" in server_config.scnf to that file's name and restart.
Why does my Wreckfest 2 server ignore my config?
Usually a JSON syntax error. Check commas and brackets in a validator, then restart.
How do I make someone admin on a Wreckfest 2 server?
Use the role command in the server console with their SteamID64 and the admin role. It is saved in server_privilege.sprv.
Skip the setup. Your own Wreckfest 2 server.
