- The easy option
A Soulmask dedicated server is configured in two places: launch options such as -pve, -MaxPlayers=, -PSW= and -adminpsw= set the basics, and WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/GameXishu.json holds every gameplay multiplier, from harvest and XP rates to tribesman limits and day length. The keys use pinyin names like CaiJiDiaoLuoRatio. The file has three sections, so change a key in all three, with the server stopped.
What are the two places Soulmask server settings live?
| Where | What it controls | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Launch options | Server name, ports, passwords, player cap, PvE or PvP, save and backup intervals, mods | Next start |
GameXishu.json |
Gameplay rates: drops, XP, tribesmen, building, raids, PvP damage, time | Next start, edit only while stopped |
| In game GM panel | Live admin actions, unlocked with the admin password | Immediately |
The JSON file is only created after the server has started fully once. Start it, let it load the world, stop it, then edit.
Which launch options does a Soulmask server use?
A typical self hosted start line looks like this:
WSServer.exe Level01_Main -server -log -UTF8Output -forcepassthrough -MULTIHOME=0.0.0.0 -Port=8777 -QueryPort=27015 -EchoPort=18888 -SteamServerName="Our Tribe" -MaxPlayers=20 -PSW="joinpass" -adminpsw="adminpass" -pve -saving=600 -backup=900
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
Level01_Main |
The map. Level01_Main is Cloud Mist Forest, DLC_Level01_Main is the Shifting Sands DLC map |
-server, -forcepassthrough |
Required for a dedicated server |
-SteamServerName= |
Name in the server list |
-MaxPlayers= |
Player cap, up to 70 |
-PSW= |
Join password. Leave it out for an open server |
-adminpsw= |
Password that unlocks the GM panel in game |
-pve or -pvp |
Combat rules. These are flags, not key and value pairs |
-Port= |
Game port, UDP, default 8777 |
-QueryPort= |
Steam query port, UDP, default 27015 |
-EchoPort= |
Local telnet port for console commands, default 18888 |
-saving= |
Seconds between world saves |
-backup= |
Seconds between backups |
-mod="ID1,ID2" |
Steam Workshop mods by ID |
Do not set -saving too low. Each save is a pause on a big world, and saving every minute or two makes a busy server stutter. Every 5 to 10 minutes is a sensible range.
The community kept Soulmask server documentation mirrors the developer's dedicated server guide and lists the rest of the options, including cluster settings.

How is GameXishu.json structured?
The file contains three repeated sections, labeled 0, 1 and 2, and each holds a full set of every setting. Which section the game reads in which situation is not documented, so the safe rule is to make the same change in all three. A change made in only one section is the most common reason people say their rates "did nothing".
An excerpt looks like this:
"ExpRatio": 1,
"CaiJiDiaoLuoRatio": 1,
"FaMuDiaoLuoRatio": 1,
"CaiKuangDiaoLuoRatio": 1,
How to edit it safely:
- Stop the server. A running server overwrites the file.
- Download a copy of
GameXishu.jsonas a backup. - Search for each key you want to change and edit every occurrence.
- Keep the JSON valid: commas between entries, no trailing comma before a closing brace.
- Start the server and check the values in game.
Single player worlds use the same keys in files named GameXishu_0.json to GameXishu_5.json (one per difficulty preset), so you can tune a preset in single player and copy the values across.
Which harvest and drop rates should you change?
All default to 1. The normal range for a server is 1 to 3, and the wider ranges in one section are best left alone.
| Key | English name | Good value for a small group |
|---|---|---|
CaiJiDiaoLuoRatio |
Gathering output (plants, fibers) | 1.5 to 2 |
FaMuDiaoLuoRatio |
Logging output (wood) | 1.5 to 2 |
CaiKuangDiaoLuoRatio |
Mining output (stone, ore) | 1.5 to 2 |
DongWuShiTiDiaoLuoRatio |
Butchering output (hides, meat) | 1.5 |
PuTongRenDiaoLuoRatio |
Normal barbarian drops | 1 to 1.5 |
BossRenDiaoLuoRatio |
Boss drops | 1 to 1.5 |
Raising gathering and logging to 2 is the most common change on friend servers. It halves the grind for building materials without touching combat or progression.
Which XP settings matter?
| Key | English name | Default |
|---|---|---|
ExpRatio |
Awareness XP, used for tech and passive unlocks | 1 |
ShaGuaiExpRatio |
XP from killing monsters | 1 |
ChengZhangExpRatio |
Character level XP | 1 |
ShuLianDuExpRatio |
Proficiency XP (weapon and craft skills) | 1 |
MJExpRatio |
Mask XP | 1 |
For a group that plays a few evenings a week, ExpRatio and ChengZhangExpRatio at 2 with the rest at 1.5 is a comfortable middle ground. Very high XP on a PvP server tends to empty it, because everyone hits the top of the tech tree in a week.
How do you change tribesman limits?
Tribesmen are the heart of Soulmask and also the biggest load on the server, so treat these carefully.
| Key | English name | Default |
|---|---|---|
GeRenMaxZhaoMuCount |
Recruits per player | 6 |
GongHuiMaxZhaoMuCount |
Tribe recruitment limit | 50 (40 in one section) |
ManRenChuZhanCount |
Tribesmen deployed with you in combat | 3 (1 in one section) |
ShiWuXiaoHaoRatio |
Food consumption speed | 1 |
ShuiXiaoHaoRatio |
Water consumption speed | 1 |
Every tribesman is simulated even when their owner is offline: pathing, jobs, needs. Doubling the tribe limit on a busy server can add gigabytes of memory use over a few weeks. On a small friend server, raising GeRenMaxZhaoMuCount to 8 to 10 is fine. On a public server, keep the defaults.
Which building, raid and PvP settings should you know?
| Key | English name | Default |
|---|---|---|
JianZhuFuLanMul |
Building decay | 1 |
JianZhuXiuLiMul |
Building construction and repair speed | 1 |
YeShengHitJianZhuShangHaiRatio |
Damage from wild creatures to buildings | 4 |
ReDuXiShu |
Invasion heat build up rate | 1 |
RuQinQiangDuXiShu |
Invasion monster strength | 1 |
RuQinGuaiCountMax |
Max invasion monsters at once | 128 |
PVP_ShangHaiRatio_JinZhan |
PvP melee damage | 0.4 |
PVP_ShangHaiRatio_YuanCheng |
PvP ranged damage | 0.4 |
On PvE servers where people play irregularly, set JianZhuFuLanMul to 0.5 so a week away does not cost someone their base. If invasions are overwhelming a small group, lower RuQinQiangDuXiShu to around 0.7 before turning ReDuXiShu down. RuQinGuaiCountMax is a quiet performance lever: dropping it to 64 caps how many attackers the server has to simulate at once.
How do you change day length and crafting speed?
| Key | English name | Default |
|---|---|---|
GameWorldTimePower |
Time flow multiplier | 24 |
GameWorldDayTimePortion |
Share of the cycle that is daytime | 0.7 |
ZhiZuoTimeRatio |
Crafting speed | 1 |
ZuoWuShengZhangRatio |
Crop growth speed | 1 |
NaiJiuXiShu |
Durability loss | 1 |
Lowering GameWorldTimePower makes days last longer in real time. Raising GameWorldDayTimePortion to 0.8 gives more daylight without changing the cycle length. ZhiZuoTimeRatio at 2 is a popular quality of life change for groups that hate waiting at workbenches.
How much RAM do these settings cost?
Settings decide how heavy a Soulmask server gets. The biggest drivers are tribesman counts, invasion size and how many bases exist. A fresh server commonly sits around 11 to 12 GB soon after starting and grows from there, so 12 GB suits a small group, 16 GB a regular group or small public server, and 24 GB a busy server with 30 or more players and mods. A restart every day or two keeps memory in check. Setup, ports and joining are in our Soulmask server guide.
FAQ
Where is GameXishu.json on a Soulmask server?
In WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/GameXishu.json. It is created on the first full start, so start the server once, stop it, then edit.
Why are my Soulmask server settings not applying?
Usually because the key was changed in only one of the three sections, or the server was running while you edited. Stop the server, change the key in all three places and start it again.
How do I switch a Soulmask server to PvP?
Replace -pve with -pvp in the launch options and restart. PvP damage itself is scaled by the two PVP_ShangHaiRatio keys.
What does Xishu mean in GameXishu.json?
Xishu is pinyin for coefficient or multiplier. The other keys use pinyin too, for example CaiKuang means mining and FaMu means logging.
How many players can a Soulmask server have?
Up to 70 with -MaxPlayers=70. Memory is the real limit, so most groups set a much lower cap.
The easy option
Our Soulmask servers put the server name, join and admin passwords, max players, save and backup intervals and auto updates in the panel, with an Extra Arguments field for -pve, -pvp and Workshop mods. GameXishu.json is editable in the file manager, and a one click backup before you change rates means a bad edit is easy to undo.
