Yes, Palworld dedicated servers support crossplay between Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac. It is controlled by CrossplayPlatforms in PalWorldSettings.ini, which defaults to (Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac), so every platform is allowed out of the box. The catch: console players cannot type an IP address, so the server has to be listed as a community server (the -publiclobby launch option) for them to find it by name.
What does Palworld crossplay support today?
| Platform | Can join a dedicated server | How they connect |
|---|---|---|
| Steam (PC) | Yes | Type the address, or find it in the community server list |
| Xbox Series X and S | Yes | Community server list only |
| PC Game Pass / Microsoft Store | Yes | Address or community server list |
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | Community server list only |
| Mac | Yes | Community server list, or the address box if their version shows it |
Crossplay arrived with the v0.5.0 update in March 2025 and carried into the 1.0 release. Everyone plays in the same world with the same 32 player limit. What does not cross over is your personal save from other platforms: a character made in single player on PS5 stays on PS5. On a dedicated server that does not matter, because the world and every character live on the server.
How does CrossplayPlatforms work?
The setting sits inside the OptionSettings=(...) line:
CrossplayPlatforms=(Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac)
Remove a platform to block it. A few examples:
| Value | Who can join |
|---|---|
(Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac) |
Everyone (default) |
(Steam) |
Steam players only |
(Steam,Mac) |
PC and Mac only |
(Xbox,PS5) |
Consoles only |
Keep the brackets and the commas, with no spaces. If you have an old config with AllowConnectPlatform=Steam, delete it or ignore it. Pocketpair's docs mark it as not available any more and point to CrossplayPlatforms instead.
How do Xbox and PS5 players join a dedicated server?
- The server must run as a community server. On a self hosted server, start it with
-publiclobby(on Linux:./PalServer.sh -publiclobby). On Steam's own launcher, pick "Open and start as a community server". - Give it a name people can actually search for. Something unique like
Moonlit Pals EUbeatsPalworld Server. - On the console, choose Join Multiplayer Game, open the community server list and search for the name.
- Enter the server password if there is one.
PC players can keep typing the address and port, for example 203.0.113.10:8211, into the box under the server list.
Why can't console players see my server?
Work through these in order:
- Not a community server. Without
-publiclobbythe server never appears in the list. This is the most common cause on self hosted servers. - Platform blocked.
CrossplayPlatformsis missing their platform, often after copying a config from an old guide. - Version mismatch. The server and every player must be on the same game version. Console patches can land at a different time than Steam's, so right after an update one side may need to wait.
- Searching the wrong name. The list shows
ServerNamefrom the ini, or the name your host sets. Check it for typos. - Hairpin NAT at home. Pocketpair notes that if your router does not support hairpin NAT, you cannot see a community server hosted on your own network. Friends outside your house still can.
If PC players can join by address but consoles cannot find it, it is almost always the first two.
Does a password work with crossplay?
Yes. Set ServerPassword="yourpassword" and console players type it after selecting the server. Keep it to letters and numbers to avoid typing trouble on a controller. The admin password (AdminPassword) works for anyone, so a console player can run /AdminPassword in chat too.
Do mods break crossplay?
Console players cannot run PC mods, so anything that needs a client side mod locks them out. bAllowClientMod controls whether PC players with mods enabled may join at all. For a mixed server, stay vanilla or stick to server side only tools.
Crossplay on GamezServers
Our Palworld servers always start as community servers, so console players can search for your server by the name on your dashboard from the first minute. Crossplay platforms is a setting in the panel: list any of Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac separated by commas, then restart. Leave it as is to let everyone in.
The Invite friends join page for your server covers both: the address for PC players, and a note for console players to search for the name. Plans start at 12 GB for groups of up to 8, see Palworld server hosting or the Palworld quick start. For other games that do this well, see best crossplay games with dedicated servers.
