Palworld 1.0 left early access on July 10, 2026, and Pocketpair's official 1.0 changelog changed a lot for dedicated servers: in game voice chat that only works when a server enables it, guild roles and permissions, safer saving, new default world settings and dedicated server optimizations. Old mods are the biggest risk to existing servers.

What did Palworld 1.0 add?

The headline content is two new areas, Sunreach and the World Tree, plus 72 new Pals for a total of 287, Awakening and Mutation, a reworked story and a player level cap raised from 65 to 80. For server owners, the "Multiplayer" and "Optimization" sections of the changelog matter more, and they are summarised below.

What changed for Palworld dedicated servers in 1.0?

Change What it means for your server
In game voice chat Off unless enabled in the server's world settings
Guild roles and permissions Guild leaders can give members roles, and some structures can be locked to roles
Improved server joining Saved server passwords and easier IP entry
Safer saving Pocketpair says save changes "reduce the risk of save data corruption"
New dedicated server defaults Default world settings now "closely match single-player Normal difficulty"
Dedicated server optimization Better performance "even in situations with many players"
Memory leak and crash fixes Fixes for "crashes and memory leaks occurring on PS5, Xbox, and dedicated server environments"
Builder name on structures Shows who placed a structure. On dedicated servers the player ID shows when the option is on
One raid boss per guild Only one raid boss battle can run at a time within a guild
Main missions in PvP Story missions can now be progressed in PvP mode

How do you turn on voice chat on a Palworld server?

Set bEnableVoiceChat=True in PalWorldSettings.ini. The 1.0 changelog says voice chat "is only available when enabled in the world settings of a dedicated server," and that it is not supported on WinGDK, the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass build. Pocketpair's configuration reference lists three keys:

Key What it does
bEnableVoiceChat Turns in game voice chat on
VoiceChatMaxVolumeDistance Distance where voices start to fade
VoiceChatZeroVolumeDistance Distance where voices go silent
  1. Stop the server.
  2. Open Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini (or WindowsServer on Windows).
  3. Inside the OptionSettings=(...) line, add bEnableVoiceChat=True, separated from its neighbours by commas.
  4. Save and start the server.

If voice chat still does not work, check that the server is on at least v1.0.4, which fixed "an issue where Voice Chat settings might not be applied correctly" (Steam, September 7, 2026). If the value resets, our guide to Palworld server settings not working covers the usual causes.

Which new PalWorldSettings.ini keys should you know?

The official reference now lists several keys that are useful on a community server:

Key Purpose
bEnableBuildingPlayerUIdDisplay Show the builder's player ID on structures, handy for tracking griefing
bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp Allow enemy camps to spawn near player bases (added in v1.0.3)
MaxBuildingLimitNum Per player building cap, 0 is unlimited (added in v1.0.4)
ChatPostLimitPerMinute Chat spam limit
bIsShowJoinLeftMessage Join and leave messages in chat
bAllowClientMod Whether players with mods can join
CrossplayPlatforms Which platforms may connect, default (Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac)

What about old mods on a Palworld 1.0 server?

Remove them before you update. On July 9, 2026, Pocketpair posted Important: About MODs and 1.0!, warning that mods left installed since 2024 can cause crashes, "corrupted save data or save data failing to load" and blocked quests. The key line: simply turning mods off "is not enough," because leftover mod files and loaders may still load. Pocketpair's steps are to back up, delete old mod files by hand, verify the game files and confirm the game runs unmodded. Saves that depend on mod added items or Pals "may not function correctly" once those mods are gone.

A follow up v1.0.2.100993 on July 30 made "adjustments related to processing in order to improve stability when playing with MODs" on PC (Steam).

Do you need a new world for Palworld 1.0?

No. Pocketpair recommends "starting fresh with a new character" for the best experience but says you "can also continue your adventure with your existing save data." Two things do not carry over: with Random Pal Spawn mode, placement data from v0.7.3 and earlier is dropped, and the halved egg incubation time only applies to newly created Normal and Hard worlds.

What this means for your server

  1. Back up first. Copy the Pal/Saved/SaveGames folder before any major update.
  2. Update server and clients together. Everyone must be on the same version, see our Palworld version mismatch fix.
  3. Review your settings. Defaults changed in 1.0, so compare your file with DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini from the new build.
  4. Decide on voice chat. It is off until you enable it.
  5. Keep scheduled restarts. Leak fixes help, but long running servers still benefit, as explained in our Palworld lag and memory fix.

Since 1.0 Pocketpair has shipped 1.0.1 to 1.0.5; our Palworld patch notes roundup covers what each one changed for servers.

On our Palworld servers, the server updates itself on start, common rates are panel settings, and keys like bEnableVoiceChat can be added in the file manager with the server stopped.

FAQ

When did Palworld 1.0 release?

Palworld 1.0 released on July 10, 2026, ending early access after more than two years.

Does Palworld 1.0 have voice chat?

Yes. In game voice chat was added in 1.0, but only on dedicated servers that set bEnableVoiceChat=True. It is not supported on the Microsoft Store and Game Pass PC build.

Can I keep my old Palworld world on a 1.0 server?

Yes. Existing saves still load, although Pocketpair recommends a fresh character, and some changes only apply to newly created worlds.

Why did my Palworld server rates change after 1.0?

1.0 changed the dedicated server defaults to closely match single player Normal difficulty. If you relied on defaults, set your rates explicitly in PalWorldSettings.ini.

Are mods safe on a Palworld 1.0 server?

Only mods updated for 1.0. Pocketpair warns old mod files can corrupt saves even when disabled, and recommends deleting them and reinstalling updated mods one by one.
