To start a new world on a No One Survived dedicated server, stop the server, change SaveName in the [ServerSetting] section of WRSH/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.ini to a name no existing save uses, and start it again. The server creates a fresh world under that name and leaves the old one untouched in WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/WorldSaves. To roll back, stop the server, back up both save folders, and put an earlier copy of the world from WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/AutoSave (or your own backup) in place of the current one in WorldSaves.
Both work because the server loads whatever save matches SaveName, and creates a new one when nothing matches. If you are still setting up the server itself, read how to host a No One Survived server first.

How the server picks its world
Three places matter:
| Location | What is in it |
|---|---|
WRSH/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.ini |
SaveName under [ServerSetting], the world to load |
WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/WorldSaves |
The world saves, named after their SaveName |
WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/AutoSave |
Automatic saves the server writes as you play |
A save's name is the part of its file name before the underscore. On start, the server looks for a save in WorldSaves whose name matches SaveName. Found: it loads it. Not found: it builds a new world and saves it under that name.
Before any reset or rollback
- Tell your group. Everyone's shelters, stockpiles and progress are in that world.
- Stop the server. Files changed while it runs can be overwritten on its next save.
- Back up
WRSH/Saved/SaveGames, the whole folder. Download it to your PC or take a server backup. This is the step that turns a mistake into a five minute fix.
Option 1: a fresh world, keeping the old one
Use this for a new season, a harder restart with more zombies, or simply a change of scenery.
Stop the server and back up as above.
Open
Game.iniand change the save name:[ServerSetting] SaveName=Season2Keep it short, with letters and numbers only. Avoid spaces and underscores, since the underscore separates the name from the rest of the file name.
Start the server. It finds no
Season2save and creates a new world.Join and check you spawn into a fresh map.
The old world is still in WorldSaves. To go back to it, set SaveName to its old name and restart.
This is also the moment to change the rules for the new world. The [GameSettings] section of the same file controls corpse tides, zombie strength and numbers, permanent death and loot; a fresh world is the fairest time to make the game harder or easier.
Option 2: wipe the world completely
Only when you want the old world gone:
- Stop the server and back up.
- In
WorldSaves, delete the files belonging to the currentSaveName. - Start the server. With no matching save, it generates a new world with the same name.
Option 1 does the same job without destroying anything, so prefer it.
Option 3: roll back after a disaster
Corpse tides that overran the base, a griefer with a torch, a game update that broke something: if the current world is in a bad state, an earlier copy can bring it back.
- Stop the server.
- Back up the whole
SaveGamesfolder, including the damaged world. Never skip this. - Open
WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/AutoSaveand look at the file dates. Find the one from before the problem. Your own backups from earlier days work the same way. - Move the current world files for your
SaveNameout ofWorldSavesinto a separate folder. - Copy the earlier save into
WorldSaves, and make sure its file name starts with the same name before the underscore asSaveName. Compare it with the files you just moved out and match their naming exactly. - Start the server, join, and check the state of the world.
If the result is not right, stop, put the files you moved out back, and you are where you started. That is why step 2 matters.
Switching between several worlds
Because worlds are just saves with different names, one server can hold several: a main survival world, a creative style test world with lots of loot, a hardcore world with permanent death. Swap between them by changing SaveName and restarting. Only one runs at a time, and the server's other settings (name, password, region) stay the same for all of them.
Keeping a world safe long term
- Take a backup before every game update. Survival games often change save formats in patches.
- Take one before big rebuilds or raids on your own base.
- Keep a few dated copies, not just the latest. A problem you only notice a week later needs a week old save.
- Write down which
SaveNameis which world.

On a GamezServers No One Survived server
On a No One Survived server with GamezServers, Server save name is a setting in the control panel, and it is written into Game.ini on every start. Change it there rather than in the file, or your edit gets replaced. Starting a new world is: change the save name, restart. The SaveGames folders are in the file manager and over SFTP for rollbacks, and one click backups take care of step 2 every time. The same panel holds the zombie count, region, password and admin password.
FAQ
How do I start a new world on my No One Survived server?
Stop the server, set SaveName in Game.ini to a new name, and start it. The server creates a new world and keeps the old one.
Where are No One Survived server saves stored?
In WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/WorldSaves, with autosaves in WRSH/Saved/SaveGames/AutoSave.
Why did my No One Survived server start a new world on its own?
SaveName does not match any save in WorldSaves, often because of a typo or a changed name. Set it back to the exact name before the underscore in the save file.
Can I roll back a No One Survived server?
Yes. Stop the server, back up, and replace the current world in WorldSaves with an earlier copy from AutoSave or your own backup, keeping the same name before the underscore.
