To become admin on an Eco server, add your Steam64 ID or SLG ID to the Admins list in Configs/Users.eco and restart, or have an existing admin type /admin YourName in chat. Admin commands are typed in the game chat with a slash, and arguments are separated by commas, for example /ban Griefer, burned the town hall, 1w. Type /help in game to see every command your access level can use.

How do I make myself admin on an Eco server?
Eco decides who is admin from the Admins list in Users.eco, inside the server's Configs folder. Usernames do not work there. You need one of two IDs:
- Your Steam64 ID, the 17 digit number starting with
7656119, if you play through Steam. - Your SLG ID, if you play with a Strange Loop Games account only.
The easiest way to get the right one is to join the server and type /manage whoami. Any player can run it, and it prints your user ID. Then:
- Stop the server.
- Open
Configs/Users.ecoin the file manager. - Find the
Adminsblock and add your ID inside its$valuesarray. Leave the$idand$typelines alone. - Save and start the server.
"Admins": {
"$id": "4",
"$type": "...",
"$values": [ "76561198000000001" ]
}
Once one admin exists, the rest is quicker. In game chat, /admin with no name lists every admin, and /admin FriendName makes a friend admin straight away. /manage removeadmin FriendName takes it back. /manage authlevel tells you your own level if a command refuses to run.
A note on /serverui: it opens the server's settings window, but only for a user sitting at the machine the server runs on. On a hosted server it does nothing for you, so settings changes go through the .eco files instead.
How do Eco command arguments work?
This trips up almost everyone coming from other games. Eco commands take arguments separated by commas, not spaces, because many item and player names contain spaces:
/give Iron Bar, 100
/levelup logging, 5
/ban PlayerName, spamming chat, 1d
Most commands also have a short form, shown in brackets in /help. /manage kick and /kick do the same thing. Commands that target a player usually fall back to you when you leave the name out.
Which commands handle moderation?
These are the ones you will use on any server with people you do not know personally. Bans, mutes and the whitelist accept a username, Steam ID, SLG ID or account ID.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/kick Name, reason |
Kicks a player |
/ban Name, reason, time |
Bans a player. Leave the time empty for a permanent ban. Time format is 1m, 1h, 1d or 1w |
/ban |
Lists everyone who is banned |
/unban Name, reason |
Lifts a ban |
/mute Name, reason, time |
Stops a player from chatting, permanently if no time is given |
/unmute Name, reason |
Lets them chat again |
/manage warnuser Name, message |
Sends a formal warning |
/manage whitelist Name |
Adds a player to the whitelist, or lists it with no name |
/manage unwhitelist Name |
Removes a player from the whitelist |
/manage listusers |
Every known user with their ID |
/manage whois Name |
One user's ID |
/manage useractivity |
When each user last logged in |
Whitelisted players skip the server password, so the whitelist is the neat way to run a private world: set a password in the panel and whitelist your regulars. By default, Users.eco has AdminCommandsLoggingLevel set to LogFileAndNotifyEveryone, which announces admin commands to the whole server in chat. Set it to LogFileAndNotifyAdmins if you would rather moderate quietly.
Which commands help with stuck players and broken builds?
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/tpto Name |
Teleport to a player |
/tppto Name |
Same, but loads the area first so you do not fall into the void |
/teleport atob PlayerA, PlayerB |
Move one player to another |
/tp x, y, z |
Teleport to coordinates (/tp x, z finds the ground for you) |
/fly |
Toggle fly mode |
/util invisible |
Make yourself invisible while you watch |
/freecar |
Unstick a vehicle |
/fuel |
Fuel the vehicle you are driving |
/property removedeed |
Remove the deed you are standing on |
/property unclaimabandoned 30 |
Unclaim plots whose owners have not logged in for 30 days |
/manage setspawn |
Move the spawn point to where you stand |
Players can fix many problems themselves with /unstuck and /rooms test, which explains why a building does not count as a room. Point people at those first.
/property unclaimabandoned is worth knowing on public servers. Long running worlds fill up with claims from players who left in the first week, and freeing that land helps new arrivals settle near the town.
Which commands change skills and progression?
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/skills rate |
Shows the specialty cost multiplier. /skills rate 0.5 makes specialties cheaper for everyone |
/levelup skill, level |
Levels up one of your skills |
/addpoint Name, stars |
Gives a player skill points (stars) |
/skills reset Name, skill |
Resets a specialization |
/skills fullreset Name |
Resets every skill for that player |
/en hours, Name |
Gives a player extra labor hours when they are exhausted |

Use these sparingly on a shared world. Eco's economy works because people depend on each other, and handing out levels skips the trading that holds a town together. They are perfect for fixing mistakes, such as a player who lost progress to a bug, or for a creative building server. For permanent changes to progression speed, edit Difficulty.eco instead. Our guide to Eco server difficulty settings covers every multiplier.
Which commands control the world, weather and meteor?
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/meteor status |
Time left until impact (anyone can run it) |
/meteor addhours 48 |
Pushes the impact back by 48 hours |
/meteor destroy |
Destroys the meteor in orbit |
/meteor spawn |
Spawns a meteor even if disasters are off |
/time set 12 or /noon |
Sets the time of day for everyone |
/time freeze and /time resume |
Stops and restarts the sun |
/weather clear |
Clears all weather. rain, heavyrain, cloudy and foggy also exist |
/manage announce message |
Sends an announcement to everyone |
/manage save |
Saves the world now |
/manage maintenance time, message |
Schedules an automatic shutdown with a warning |
/meteor addhours is the one groups ask about most. If your town is close to the laser but the meteor is due before your next play session, an admin can buy a couple of days without editing config files or restarting. Agree it with your players first: the deadline is part of the game.
Always run /manage save before you stop the server for maintenance.
Can I use RCON instead of chat?
Yes. Eco's server has a built in RCON listener, and on our servers the RCON port is assigned for you and the password is a setting in the panel. Point any Source style RCON client at your server address with that port and password, and you can run commands without logging into the game. That is handy for kicking a griefer from your phone. Keep the RCON password private: it is admin access to the whole world.
Running Eco admin on a hosted server
Most of the admin pain in Eco is setup: finding your ID, editing Users.eco without breaking the JSON and keeping the world online for the meteor's real time countdown. On an Eco server from GamezServers, Users.eco and the other config files are in the browser file manager, the SLG login, password, public listing and RCON password are fields in the panel, and one click backups mean a bad edit is easy to undo. Your town can split the bill, so nobody pays for the whole thing. If you are still choosing how to run the world, our Eco hosting guide walks through the full setup.
FAQ
Why does Eco say I do not have permission to use a command?
You are not in the Admins list, or the ID there is wrong. Run /manage whoami, copy that exact ID into Users.eco, and restart the server.
Can I use my username in Users.eco?
No. The admin, whitelist, blacklist and mute lists in the file take a Steam64 ID or an SLG ID. In game commands like /admin and /ban do accept usernames.
How do I see every Eco command?
Type /help in game. It lists the commands available at your access level, and you can add a word to filter it, such as /help meteor.
How do I ban someone for a week on Eco?
Type /ban PlayerName, reason, 1w. Leave the time out for a permanent ban, and use /unban PlayerName to lift it.
Can I delay the meteor without restarting?
Yes. /meteor addhours followed by a number of hours pushes the impact back. To change the timer for good, edit the meteor settings before the world gets far along.
